If you’re coming from a TOC to a FOC, not as many as you’re used to is the simple answer as with all FOCs.Does any out there know what benefits are there when working for Freightliner and do they have their own social clubs
Im a new trainee about to start my course in Jan, was just trying to find out about benefits thats allIf you’re coming from a TOC to a FOC, not as many as you’re used to is the simple answer as with all FOCs.
Having said that, maybe I’m being overly mean? The single most useful and valuable benefit working for a TOC is the travel.
Sorry, didn’t mean it to sound off or anything, was just saying that if you worked for a TOC beforehand, the perks won’t be on a par.Im a new trainee about to start my course in Jan, was just trying to find out about benefits thats all

Cheers and thanksAlthough they don’t offer the free travel perks etc that a TOC may offer. They do have an employee perks site, in which you can purchase various perks through salary sacrifice. Such as a brand new lease car, technology ie TVs,phones computers etc. Or health insurance and a few other things. You can also make a saving on a few things like half price cinema tickets. If you’re a new starter, you will be informed of this at some stage.
No worriesSorry, didn’t mean it to sound off or anything, was just saying that if you worked for a TOC beforehand, the perks won’t be on a par.
Thanks anywaysNo worries
No....So FOC employees don't get PRIV ?
Not sure how useful it might be, but can a FL driver ride in the cab for leisure purposes to get from one point to another in the country ?
How far could one get doing this ?

As you know Freightliner has put forward proposals to your union that could threaten your pension.Could you elaborate on pension troubles please? And maybe the first bit too?
is it common then for FOC staff to have to drop of a train at the other wide of the country and have to travel back for another train or are they restored to return to same train back to the starting depot again? in this case it would suck to not get free travel.
No couldn't care less about the place now. Onto pastures newThanks for this. Any rough timescale of then this will be introduced and the chances of the union fighting it off?
Just started training a fortnight since, and all of us signed up for the final salary pension scheme. Best of luck in your new venture. As you know Freightliner has put forward proposals to your union that could threaten your pension.
This is a profitable company which is growing, for example they have just won a multi-million deal with Mendip Rail. And even though Freightliner have a well-funded pension scheme they now want to force members for the first 5 years of their company service away from a Final Salary Pension scheme into an inferior Defined Contribution (Money Purchase) pension scheme. This will significantly reduce their retirement aspirations
Pretty sure not mate.I wonder if travel to and from work at the start and end of shift would be acceptable?

The NR final salary pension scheme closed to new entrants a few years ago (2012 I think). It’s the same with Network Rail, new entrants have to join the poor value defined benefit scheme for five years. After which you can then move to the much better final salary rail pension scheme.
