anywhere within an hours-ish drive of ferrybridge power station. which includes, ferrybridge, sudforth lane, immingham, leeds, york, doncaster, and maybe rotherham/barrowhill.
i'm really hoping for ferrybridge as it's 6.3 miles on a push bike from home to there, according to google![]()
Yeah I'm willing to relocate, maybe not down south as it's top expensive, but anywhere else, just hope we have been waiting for good news.
Just received a letter saying I have failed to make the shortlist for the January Intake, however I performed well at the interview and want to keep my name on file for the March and other subsequent intakes.
So bad news but not devastating news.

Got a letter to say I was unsuccessful- gutted!
Probably the worst interview I've had, good luck to all those still waiting to hear.
Why the worst?
I knew as soon as the manager saw me, I wasn't going to get the job. He underestimated what he saw of me & made up his mind. This was reflected by some of the questions he asked me. Plus he seemed to be very anti the job I already do. Also he didn't seem to gel well with the HR member.
I am sure everyone was asked same questions, such as:
- Comfortable in training environment
- Ok lodging away from work, working nights, unsociable hours
- working to rules and procedures
- able to learn phonetic alphabet
- do I have a full clean driving licence
Hi mate I got exactly the same letter, what do you make of it? Doesn't make it clear weather or not there is a march course, just we are in a pool and I knew I would be just had a feeling was talking about it earlier in this thread!
Got the same letter today. Gutted but still in with a chance.
I can't work out why they don't select people now for the March intake as they have obviously interviewed everyone?
I agree, as so far it seems as if the people interviewed in July got the September and January slots, and the people in September are earmarked for the March start.
I would like to know if I am to get a place in March, because I have 5 weeks left at work, and I don't know if to look for a temporary job, or a permanent job that I will (hopefully) leave to join FL
Well my interview was July, and I've only got the letter for a maybe in march, I've pretty much sold my business on so I will too be unemployed, and undecided weather to get a temporary or full time job, I don't think it makes it clear weather there is a course in march as I know someone who works for FL and has been told there are no more planned courses after the January one?
How secure are Freightliner depots?
Do they close down when contracts come to an end or do they set up depots permanently?
Another question how are wagons attached/detached from a freight train is the process similar to that of Multiple units?
I was told at interview there is a March intake and the letter I got says 'we would like to keep you on file for the march intake', which to me means there is a march intake
When they lose a contract (this is a usual practise for the freight companies, as they don't get subsidy from the government) they often lay off drivers.
Yeah my letter says the same, that's why I was confused because of what I was told, why would they just keep us in a pool until March they didn't do that to the January people after the September intake! I think there just seeing how things go and if they actually need anymore
The January people were maybe in a pool but not told, as people only finding out now about jan, when they were probably interviewed about same time as the sept intake
