Yeah I get the impression that goal posts have been moved somewhat since the DMI back in Sept. Just wait and see I guess.
Crewe??

In 2015/16 I went through a FL recruitment drive for trainee's, spent £800 travelling the country to complete the tests, sat the DMI then bingo they pulled the plug without any explanation whatsoever, I was unable to find out how the DMI even went.
I believe that at that time there were issues regarding freight and I imagine things have now moved on. What surprised me was how the picture flipped without any information being relayed to applicants. From my experience absolutely anything can and does happen throughout the recruitment process.
Hello All
Been lurking for a while.
I applied to Freightliner for a trainee driver position (Whatley) and have today received an invitation to an assessment day.
Anyone else currently in the mix for this?
Cheers, hope the interview goes well! So how was the assessment day? Take it you went to OPC Watford?Yeah I have. I've sat all the tests and have an interview on Wednesday with Freightliner.
Best of luck!

I am worried, but I also highly doubt they would make us all go through what we did, for nothing. They must have some sort of plan in mind. I have a friend who waited a year in the pool for another company in the train driving industry. Is anyone else beginning to wonder if maybe these jobs that we're all waiting patiently in the pool for, are never actually going to happen at all??? Or should I be less worried?!
Hope you're right. It's just the wording of the last letter that worries me.I am worried, but I also highly doubt they would make us all go through what we did, for nothing. You would of thought getting drivers would be the top priority for the Mendip contract considering it starts in November.Unfortunately unless your in an area where trainee drivers are required, I’d say you’ll have a bit of a wait. It appears the attention is on the mendip hills area and London ( and surrounding area ). I passed my tests in the may/ June intake last year... I still haven’t heard a single up date almost a year later!

Not enough time to get new drivers trained now.
FL will be very short of drivers for this work and is highly unlikely they will be able to fulfill their contract obligations.
With so many people in the pool already for other areas and a demand for the mendip contract, I am surprised they never asked if there was people willing to relocate to start training immediately.
Very "Q", I was contacted previously about a possible HH role based in Crewe but it never materialised. That said, I will be withdrawing from the FL Pool as I have been offered a Driver Role at WMT starting in July. Just awaiting the paperwork to come through this week. One less person in pool will help someone else to get closer.... Genuinely wish you all good luck and hope you all get offered soon!
