clue: A lot further up north.
Another clue that won't help much: My brother lives in this city.

OK, easy one - until 1969, it was possible to enter a railway station in a city in the UK, then leave another railway station in another city, without boarding a train (or other public transport), where were the two stations?

This wouldn't be Manchester Victoria and Exchange, in Manchester/Salford, would it?

Okay. With the Six Nations done and dusted for another year, rugby fans are turning their attention to the World Cup due to be held in Japan this autumn. There will be twenty different teams competing, each with their own national anthem. Though some are not as familiar when written down in English...

From which countries' anthems are each of these snippets taken?
  1. Liberty, Liberty, Orientals!
    This cry saved the fatherland
Which her brave warriors, in fierce battles
    with sublime enthusiasm fill´d.
  2. To arms, citizens,
    Form your battalions,
    Let's march, let's march!
    Let an impure blood
    Water our furrows!
  3. Hear our prayer for thou unseen
We know that thou hath blessed our land
    Grant our earnest supplication
    God save Tupou, our king.
  4. For your arm knows how to wield the sword
    Your arm knows how to carry the cross;
    Your history is an epic
    Of brilliant deeds
  5. Be glorious, our free Fatherland,
    Age-old union of fraternal peoples,
Popular wisdom given by our forebears!
Be glorious, our country! We are proud of you!

4) Reminded me of something and I tracked it down. It's Canada, I think. But on checking it seems that it's an English translation of the French version of "O Canada" - the English version is toned down quite a lot! Not sure which they sing at matches.

You're right, it is Canada's. The French and English lyrics are markedly different, but for most "national/inclusive" events they use a cut-and-shut mixture of the two. The most common bilingual form has this middle portion in French, and the start and end in English.

It was the "Orientals" bit that made me think so …. but let's try Italy instead.
Not Italy. The "Orientals" makes sense for the country if you recall that "orient" literally means "east".
Easily Googled, unless you are an organizer of the Copa America:D
Oh, you're such a tease. :) Care to throw your name into the ring?

It is the anthem for Uruguay - but during the Copa America on 5th June 2016 before the Uruguay Mexico match the organisers didn't do their research properly and played the Chilean national anthem by mistake

That it is. And in fairness to "Oriental" Uruguay, they are on the eastern coast of South America.

So with three guesses out of the five, I reckon @DerekC has first refusal of the floor.
