Interesting that the last 3 trains are being held back before entering service. Unfortunately - but usual for SPT - no timescale for implementation of the new signalling system .

The last three new trains of 17 in total have yet to be officially handed over to SPT. Following handover these will, in all likelihood, for the majority of time be held back for future testing with the new signalling and communications system, as well as testing with the new Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) which will be introduced in stations next year.

SPT Director of Transport Operations Richard Robinson said:

“Having all our new trains officially accepted will be another key milestone in the modernisation programme but there are still many more to come. These last three trains will not be introduced into passenger service straight away but will be used for further testing with new signalling and communications infrastructure currently being installed in the system, and then with our PSDs. In addition, all of this needs to tie up with our new Operational Control Centre so these last trains have a lot more work to do.”

G2 101 is currently being loaded onto a low loader at Edmiston Drive.
Is there any news as to what happened with 101 yet?

Wasn't there also talk on here of Riverside taking one of the centre trailers?

Thanks

Can anyone point me to a source which shows each station depth including the relationship to Queen St and Central low level tunnels?

Is it my imagination or has there been an improvement in ride quality recently? Not been on them since they first entered service but this week I've noticed a big change and they don't bounce around as much. I take it the talked about improvements have been done?

They only need to make the doors open quicker now

It’s noticeable how much more quickly the doors open and close now. It’s almost immediately for opening with only a couple seconds longer for closing.

Found myself taking the subway for the times time in a few weeks yesterday. Noticed a big reduction in the shoogle and the doors opened much quicker when I went in both directions.

Shoogle? First time I've needed a dictionary on this website! Very useful word which should be introduced onto the London Underground.

Some good news regarding some of the old stock!

From Paul Sweeney on X:

“After much persistence, a team of us have managed to save around half of the 1980 Metro-Cammell Glasgow Subway cars from the scrap yard.

A huge thanks to @BenDC_ for his relentless work to secure deals for these much loved little trains for and project managing their re-homing.”

very glad to see, those trains represent so much history of the city, will be exciting to see where they end up.

My brother saw these being cut up in a scrapyard and it did seem a shame to see them cut up with no plan for preservation at the time.

Good to some being preserved, that's the easy part you now need to get a 4ft gauge track to run it on or regauge it to standard.

I think it’s a given that these units will never move under their own power again - and if they ever sit on rails again it’ll be for ‘mounting’ purposes and not for actually going anywhere! Re-guaging would be pointless as I recall the traction power was not standardised so adding additional expense to a diminuative carriage when there’s lots of other standardised stock with less costly ‘issues’ around. But I agree it is good that they’ll not all disappear though!

Assume it was the S. Norton yard in Govan?

Half of them. That seems like quite a lot. Where are they all heading to?
