...and the next service on this diagram (2C24 KGX to CBG) has been terminated at Letchworth too (and hence the 1326 from Cambridge is cancelled). What's going on with these services only able to get as far as Letchworth?

Actually, looks like the diagram has been cancelled for the rest of the day - 1512 KGX-KLN and 1710 KLN-KGX already reporting as cancelled too.

Going really well.
There were issues on the GN this morning, unrelated to 379s, which caused delays and thus cancellations/ cut shorts.

Yesterday afternoon I travelled on 379002+026 on the 1642 King's Cross - Peterborough.

The only unit visible in Peterborough Nene Sidings was 379020, pan down.

One thing which struck me, which may have been discussed elsewhere in the thread, is that from a quick glance it seems an 8-car 379 will have quite a number of seats fewer than an 8-car 387, especially standard class.

I think they have 5 diagrams now (maybe even 6) so that is 10 units out daily. I assume the are keeping them away from split / join diagrams. Will try and collate the new ones in the coming week. (Frequently cancelled trains seems a good clue)

The only split/join diagrams are from 8 to 12 car and back. 379s aren’t cleared for 12 car passenger work yet so won’t be on those trains until they are

I think there’s a couple of 4-cars on Sunday late evening where 387s split. Haven’t looked at the latest diagrams to see if they still do, though I imagine it still happens.

There were lots of cancellations on Saturday, with only 3 down 'fasts' to Ely/Kings Lynn running between the 1242 and the 1742 (6 cancelled!) and 2 of the last three, including the last train, cancelled too.

Hard to know how much of this is due to 379s and how much is due to the usual Saturday driver shortages, especially with this being half-term. Usual rubbish service though (as I said above, the *last* thing we need on GN is even more disruption than usual).

Hard to know how much of this is due to 379s and how much is due to the usual Saturday driver shortages.
Yesterday was an unfortunate mix of factors.

Rolling stock faults, driver sickness and the ongoing issue with drivers not being ready to run the  new stock solo.

The cancellations were much worse in the plan and then someone apparently remembered you can chop an 8-Car in half and get 2 387s instead.

I think this is the possible location of all units at the moment. But not sure 019 is still at Peterbo. 004/021/025 and 028 may have started working and Ive just missed them. BW DC

Apologies for asking but may somebody provide some clarity on the 379 diagrams please?

Asking for a friend. Thank you!

0947 Ely->KGX was a (pair of) 379 again this morning, so it looks like this is indeed a 379 diagram now.

Second Tuesday running with both the 1800 southbound and 1812 northbound cancelled at Cambridge North, leaving a gap of almost an hour with zero trains in any direction in the middle of the evening peak. Lovely.

Presumably the missing 1800 is a 379 issue, and the missing 1812 not, just like last week, but as a regular user of Cambridge North, this is simply rubbish.

Edit : and the GA Ely terminator just passed through, almost empty, without stopping of course, the fifth train to go through without stopping (3 in service, 2 ECS) since the last trains that actually called here 45 minutes ago.

Does appear the 1800 was booked a 379 that had a problem. 1T48 ran as far as Cambridge. So guessing a Crew issue.
Now I couldn't sat there's no trains from Cambridge North in that hour...

The previous train before the 1800 is at 1739 though, so nothing for 53 minutes - until we then get 4 trains departing in the space of 10 minutes. (and indeed there are 4 trains in the 7 minutes leading up to 1739).

It's really bad timetabling for us commuters trying to use CMB when the service from CMB is so much worse in the evening peak than in any other hour of the day. Now *if* the 1800 and 1812 both run, then you just about get away with it, but both have become very unreliable since the timetable change - in the case of the 1800 presumably due to being a 379 now. Not sure why the 1812 has suddenly started having so many issues.

--

Wednesday : 1710 KLN-KGX (1800 at CMB) is cancelled *again* today, again leaving a 53-minute gap in services to CBG in the middle of the evening peak.

028 in service this morning on 1R11, interestingly in reverse formation with first class at the country end
They need to sort this, given the CIS advertises the accessible coaches the same as a 387 (and so will be saying the wrong coach numbers when the trains are the wrong way around).

The location of first class isn't quite so serious but for accessibility they need to be consistent.

...though in the end that didn't matter, as we were hit by the second total signal failure between Cambridge and Ely in the past month, so the gap in service ended up over 2 hours :( Probably can't blame the 379s for that though!

Let's see if this diagram manages to make it all the way through the day today.

Same for whatever the front unit was on 1T19 this morning (0947 Ely-KGX) - possibly 006 but I forgot to check.

They should all be turned but guessing for whatever reason a couple haven't been. I'd imagine the need for service is greater than a turning move, which will eventually happen.

Given the problems they have with them, I'm sure you're right. However, accessibility is important too.

Let's see if this diagram <0947 Ely-KGX and eventually 1710 KLN-KGX> manages to make it all the way through the day today.

It did! (Though the 1740 KLN-KGX didn't run instead).

It didn't today though, the 1326 CBG-KGX ran but appears to have been running rather slow for some reason (took 32 minutes longer than timetabled), and then the rest of the diagram has been cancelled.

Does anyone know which, if any, diagrams are 379 worked on a Saturday please?

[Post above from Friday, post below from Saturday]

Seems to be a couple of 379 diagrams out today, 9.12 Kings X-Ely cancelled due to failure of the booked 2x379 however, the offending units have since been dumped at Letchworth.

The 1740 out of Kings Lynn did run yesterday, with the stock getting to lynn from Cambridge at 1730 from Cambridge
