571 was involved in a collision with a car at Bentley AHB last Sunday. The damage to the train however was only minor.

720505/568 should be returing to Ilford on Friday!

Loco Move into Derby:
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:R00257/2025-06-13/detailed (STP Move)

Move from Derby to Ilford:
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C01868/2025-06-13/detailed (Marked as a VAR move 5Q68 usually is for Wembley but has been changed to Ilford)
Many thanks.

Only thing to do is to finally get 505 into service by the end of this month after the few Southend fault free mileage runs & that’s the job fully done for all 133 720’s.

I suspect the 7 car 345s may not have the final traction motor cooling setup sort yet which might account for some of the noise difference...
Honestly in 2025 having been on all the aventras bar the 730/2s, they are all ultra quiet and boring with regards to the motors. Id wager they all have some sort of forced cooled, closed air traction set up hence the very quiet sounds when entering the synchronous stage of its modular programming. The most audiable by far is the class 730/0 alongside some 710s. The 100mph aventras seem the most silent and boring, with teeny tiny gears making the gear frequencies vanish into inaudiable hearing range at mid speed. Quite bland imo. Maybe im wrong but id wager from what ive read on the internet its likely the aventras are all forced cooled.

What happened on the 17:53 from LST to Southend today? Reports of it being cancelled due to a train fault at stations but journeycheck says

17:53 London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria due 18:52 will be cancelled.
This is due to a train not stopping at a station it was supposed to.

Did a driver fail to stop at a booked station call or was it because of a train fault that made them unable to?

Looks like Romford was the station it failed to call at, since the 18:08 London Liverpool Street to Ipswich due 19:30 had an additional call at Romford inserted.

The driver of 2K41 1623 Southend V to Liverpool St forgot to stop at Romford and was therefore unable to work their next working 2K44 1753 Liverpool St to Southend, which was cancelled.

Do the 720s have any intended orientation? Most of the trains I see have the DTSLW (the carriage with the accesible toilet) at the London end.

Yep - accessible toilet London end, bike space country end.

The most common flip is when a Walton service skips Colchester Town when running late.

Unflipping moves are available via High Meads Junction e.g. 720530 last Monday

Interesting. Did the previous Class 317s have an intended orientation as well? Considering the first class was in one of the intermediate carriages and not at the ends.

I usually sat in the pair of seats at the end of the motor coach under the pantograph. They were usually facing forward departing from Liverpool Street so that leads me to think that they were nearly all the same way around. The only place they were likely to get turned is Stansted Airport.

5Q68 has been amended again for this Friday following with 2 STP schedules (for the loco)

STP 0D68

Admended Schedule for 5Q68 (to Ilford Depot orignally Wembley Depot)

STP 0M68

Hopefully 568 and 505 should be heading back. Currently says Runs as Required best to always check in the morning on Friday to see if this actually runs.

EDIT: Not running by the looks of things
