New TOC Greater Anglia is offering 25% off a range of tickets when you register online with them.

Do we know when or how we get the pin? I have registered and have the welcome email but no mention of the pin, the link is now down :|

Fingers crossed, PINs will be emailed once the website is fully functional.

I have split discussions into this new thread to keep the main offers sticky tidy.

PIN? Is this what you get if you registered with the website? I did so before 5th Feb so should I expect a PIN?

(I'm not even aware I was signing up to a promotion...)

So you can access the 25% discount.

Just asked via twitter about the missing PINs.

'Should be through in the next few days' was the almost immediate response. Much better service on twitter than other parts of the Greater Anglia operation. All-in-all a rather inauspicious start to the new franchise.

Are we sure they didn't mean to say

'Greater Anglia is offering 33-50% off a range of trains' ?

I registeted at 11:18 on 5 Feb. No PIN yet.
I got my registration confirmation at 09:51 the same day, but STILL not PIN. This is ridiculous!

I am staying in Cambridge (well actually, at Whittlesford in the Holiday Inn Express virtually on the platform!) next weekend, and can't book any cheap tickets which is very frustrating.

I'm going to give them until Tuesday. After that it will be an email to the Advertising Standards Authority.

I have also asked them on twitter but had no reply.

I don't blame you. I will have given them a week tomorrow...

The last booking date for train tickets is 5 March 2012 with the earliest travel between 5 February to 28 April 2012. The latest possible returning travel date is 28 May 2012 and all railcards will be eligible for this promotion.

So the offer is valid for a journey on 5th February, the date the offer started, but you can't take up the offer until you get your PIN.

I want to travel with them next weekend...

Snap. Having to wait a week to start participating in a limited-term (11 week) promotion is not reasonable in the slightest.

Given that they are managing to send out a personalised "welcome to GA" e-mail in response to registration, all they needed was to consecutively number these and make that the PIN, and then cross-check e-mail address against PIN which you book the ticket. Simples.

Hang on! Thinking about it, if they cross-check the e-mail address against the registration database, there is no need for a PIN at all anyway.

I have had no response to the tweet I sent them on Thursday or the e-mail I sent yesterday morning, and it has been a week, well over the "a few days" that they have stated on their website, so I have submitted a complaint to the ASA on the grounds that the offer applies to fares from 5th Feb onwards yet you cannot claim the offer until you are sent your PIN, therefore it would be impossible for someone to take up this offer for travel on 5th February.

No response to my tweet to them a lot earlier today, either. They've been tweeting exactly the same message all day so not obvious if anyone is actually physically doing it or whether it's automated? If not automated, I am not surprised that there is nobody sensible to give a substantive response on a Sunday, but a "sorry to hear that, we'll get back to you" would have been nice.

Well "DB" said "see you on Mon" yesterday at 20:33 which suggests they don't have a twitter person on Sundays, and HootSuite can be set to tweet automatically at a given time so I guess that's what they've done today. If things went really wrong I suspect they may have called someone in.

To go futher off topic...Does JourneyCheck offer RSS feeds? Potentially you could automate that to tweet from it each time something new is added. I've used dlvr.it to create @bbcaudiencetix twitter feed. Automation is better than nothing at all imo.

Planned or not, they seemed to be Tweeting rather a lot to inform people about short formed trains all week. Now, I don't know if this was purely weather related, or indeed whether NXEA had been doing this a lot too.

Many of them on friday seem to be "due to a train fault". Its quite clear the person is just retyping journeycheck in which case they could look at automating it (i did a quick test example at @journeycheckatw) and then concentrate on specific queries

Mine arrived too.

Confused by the email though as it states:

To celebrate our arrival, we're offering you 25% off your first journey on Greater Anglia

Whereas I thought the promotion was all tickets during the promotional period

I got a pin sent to my old work email address that I used to sign up to the NXEA website about 3 years ago (I've since left and rejoined the company so the email is still valid although I thought I'd changed it before I left!) but not to my personal email I signed up to Greater Anglia with on 05/02.

I'm pretty sure my original registration was with NXEA and not 'the holder of the Anglia franchise' (ticked all the boxes saying don't share my info with third parties) so I'd think them using NXEA's mailing list is a breach of the Data Protection Act.

Travel on the Greater Anglia rail network for less with 25% OFF selected tickets when you register with Greater Anglia.
To claim your 25% OFF train tickets simply register with Greater Anglia, making sure that you opt to receive exclusive and money saving offers from us when prompted and you will receive an exclusive PIN (personal identification number). This will be sent to you by e-mail within a few days of registering with us. Use your PIN to claim 25% OFF selected tickets with Greater Anglia when you book online. It’s that simple.

Register for your pin number

The last booking date for train tickets is 5 March 2012 with the earliest travel between 5 February to 28 April 2012. The latest possible returning travel date is 28 May 2012 and all railcards will be eligible for this promotion.

Ticket types include: Advance Single; First Advance Single, Off Peak Day Return, Super Off Peak Day Return and Off Peak Return.

See full terms and conditions below - this promotion is only available to registered customers who book online using their PIN.

25% Off Promotion terms and conditions

Greater Anglia promotional discounts can only be applied to online bookings made at www.greateranglia.co.uk. Discounts cannot be applied to bookings for journeys with Greater Anglia made on other rail booking websites. To redeem discount, enter the correct code when prompted during booking process. The discount will be automatically applied and you will be shown the new value prior to payment.

The promotional discount code is only valid on selected Advance Single (where non-discounted ticket price is up to £16), First Advance Single (where non-discounted ticket price is up to £24.50), Off Peak Return, Off Peak Day Return and Super Off Peak Day Return tickets, for journeys where Greater Anglia is the sole train operator, made during the validity of the offer.

All bookings will be subject to availability at the time of transaction. The discount will be applied to the transaction price on the shopping basket page, prior to payment. A limit of one discount code per booking applies. Promotional discount is non-transferable, not valid on past purchases and not exchangeable for cash. The discount code may be used in conjunction with Railcard and Child discounts, but cannot be used in conjunction with any further promotion or discounts. Greater Anglia reserves the right to change or cancel the discount code campaign at any time. Once you have made your booking, the price paid will not change. All bookings are subject to Greater Anglia standard terms and conditions. Should you need a refund, the refund will only be to the value paid for the promotional ticket, excluding advance fares. Should you need to amend your discounted journey to one outside the terms of this offer, or amend your booking after the expiry of the offer, you may be required to pay the value of your original discount as well as any excess fare. Greater Anglia standard amendment and cancellation terms apply.

Unless I am being blind nowhere in there does it indicate that the discount applies to only 1 purchase.
