the aim is to guess the station that im describing

1)it has 3 platforms, it has been renamed 3 times, it has three words in its current name, it is served by first great western.

2)it is served by northern (i feel sorry for the 213,000 people who use it),it is a terminus and it only has one platform

Number 1 Worcester Shrub Hill maybe, not sure how many times this has been re-named though.

Number 2 Blackpool South, Blackpool North has many platforms 8 i think.

Filton Abbey Wood has only ever had the one name from new. The old station at Filton was on a completely separate site.

Filton Abbey Wood seems to fit, but as has been pointed out, it's not actually the same station. Also 'renamed 3 times' implies that whatever station it is has actually carried four names.

The fact that the threadstarter is based in Bristol suggests he may be thinking locally!
