I have seen on a few discord servers that the last day of GWR HST service will be the 9TH December 2023, the day before the timetable change. In particular 2C91 Cardiff Central - Bristol Temple Meads. Can anyone confirm or refute this?

They will be operating after the December timetable change, so that's definitely an error.

There will be 3 sets diagrammed on Mon-Fri & Saturdays, no booked Sunday workings.

Sets will also be limited to purely Penzance - Plymouth bar one extension to Exeter St David's returning ECS.

Complete gobble-de-gook.
Wot 'e said ;)

Ah, now that I didn't know. From December's change? I'd be quite happy to be rid of them from Cardiff, as the legroom and personal space leaves a lot to be desired.

Yes, diagrams applying from the 11th onwards - sets will be Penzance / Plymouth only*.

*There will be one extension to Exeter on Mon-Fri returning ECS and one Exeter starter on Saturdays (formed off an ECS).

The table seats are horribly cramped, but I thought the airline seats had a more generous than usual seating pitch. Or is my memory playing tricks?

I've just seen that two Cardiff Penzance services will terminate at Plymouth from the TT change now, and customers will need to transfer to what will assumedly be a HST shuttle.

See I'm the opposite, I love them when I get them from Severn Tunnel, the seats are better than the 80x which turnup and both are much better than traveling on the 16x which turn up sometimes, although it's all subjective I guess.

Churchward, if it happens, cannot come soon enoug! Hopefully we get something lovely!

The 1555 calls at more stations, so despite leaving only 8 mins later it arrives in Penzance a full 30 mins later - by Truro the 1555 regains a the usual off-peak half-hourly pattern offset from the 1547.

Aren't at least a couple sets gonna be retained for a few more months beyond 2023? Considering the lack of replacements for them at this moment in time?

Hello, complete newbie but this morning I thought I saw an HST set working
  • UID G60317, identity 1A50
    TSC 25396002, headcode 1276
  • Altered WTT schedule
    10th December 2023 only
  • Sleeper (Domestic)
  • Great Britain (Network Rail, TPS)
  • 57603 (set PZ88)

Passing through Tiverton Parkway just into 11th December - Saw it from a distance so excuse an ignorance.

I belive 1A50 is the headcode for the Night Riviera, hauled by a 57 (57603 in today's case).

The information you yourself provided verified the train as being a 57-hauled service, not an HST. Arguably much rarer to see than a HST, so nice spot! :)
