Hi,

Does anyone know how busy are London Midland services between London Euston and Nuneaton on Saturdays?

I was thinking about a run down to London Euston first class on an early Saturday Virgin train NUN to EUS direct and then coming back on a £5 ticket that London Midland have been advertising?

Just wondering how busy they are because I don't fancy over 100 miles on a busy train.

Many thanks,

Steve.

I haven't done it very often, but it's been pretty quiet, except maybe around Milton Keynes and London.

quiet/light loading between Crewe and Milton Keynes
busier as you get closer to London, as tony said

Well if you believe the residents of Nuneaton, the trains will be wedged as there's a huge market for that journey...... unless, of course, they've all been put off by the much cheaper fares, window views, un-claustrophobic interiors, and lack of annoying beeping noises. ;) (Sorry, couldn't resist!!)

Seriously though, what service are you after? Generally speaking services into Euston on Saturday mornings are likely to be fairly busy, but you should easily get a seat as you'll be on before Northampton and Milton Keynes where the trains will start to fill up.

Many thanks for the replies.

I was looking into the possibly of travelling from Nuneaton to London Euston first class on the 0659 or 0859 from Nuneaton for £26.50 and then coming back with London Midland on the 0846 for £8.00 or the 1046 for £12.00 to keep costs down as I think coming back with VT would cost a lot more.
These are only example prices based on what they are offering me at the moment but the times wouldn't change.

My plan is to take a long journey on a Pendolino and I've never been to Euston before. Also, a longer, inexpensive trip in first class. The longest single journey I've done so far on a Pendolino is Coventry to New Street and then New Street to Wolverhampton, both trips were in first.

Cheers,

Steve.

If you forget about Nuneaton to Coventry, I've had two other trips with LM - Nuneaton to Rugby - which was very pleasant on an almost empty train around lunchtime and Crewe to Nuneaton which was a bit busier but a bit slow for my liking. My only previous experience of Nuneaton to Crewe was back in the good old days on a VT locomotive hauled service.

.

Joking or not, that's all nonsense of course. Like most other Nuneaton residents, if I want to travel to London, I do what I've had to do for years, I drive to Rugby or Coventry. Some people may have the luxury of being able to waste an extra hour on the train, but many do not.

Going North is where we've been particularly shafted. For that I now simply drive the whole way. And that does indeed have the merit of "cheaper fares, window views, un-claustrophobic interiors, and lack of annoying beeping noises."!

There a number of different bleeps..

Cab to Crew
Crew to Crew
Call for Aid
Passcom / Egress Handle

The last is the most common one.
