It's a bit of an odd one this but have you ever seen another vehicle just say on the road which looks like a locomotive?

I have 3 to mind, the class 70 and a VW Van, Class 60 and a university bus I saw this morning and I'm sure Layland made a bus they turned into a railcar in the 80's?

I will get some pictures up when I finish work and see what you think.

Has anyone else been driving along and thought anything similar? If you have pictures even better.

The class 140, 141 and 142 Pacers (Of which the 142s are the only class still in revenue earning service, the singular class 140 being a prototype) were all built from Leyland National bus parts on a railway underframe. The single car prototype Leyland railbuses that preceded these looked even more like Leyland National buses, using even the same cab ends!

The class 139 Parry People Movers used on the Stourbridge Town branch remind me of the Fiat Multiplas from around the turn of the millennium in the design of their front ends, and there's an obvious parallel to the old "bread van" minibuses overall.

90s/91s/Mk4 DVTs have always reminded me of heavy lift helicopters, for no apparent reason.

Check that parry people mover out! I have never seen one of them in my life! They look like a modern version of the Operate midget gem and buzzy bee buses from the greater Manchester area in the 90's.

I'll get some pic's up in a few mins.

Not entirely sure that works in the context of the OP; though the Road Locomotive was made by Fowler of Leeds and the Rail one Aveling & Porter. I suppose if you posted a picture of both Aveling & Porter products it wouldn't work the same.

Alternatively here's a Bristol LH bus disguised as a train....

Lamp cluster on the rear of a Ford Puma looks like that on a 321 EMU.

Which is almost ironic, considering the lights on the SWT Junipers were based on that of a Ford KA.

VW camper replica perhaps?

It's the old Chicken and the egg case. But in this one, i can tell you that the Splitty came first (Thanks to Ben Pon / Volkswagen - first scratch design 1947, First model produced in 1949), Followed by the V200 in 1953, Then our 'Warships' under licesense from 1958 and our 'Westerns' in 1961. A brilliant testament to a simple design i think!

LEV1 and LEV2 (pictured)!

Ahhh, poor old A949 SAE. The externally repainted (and semi preserved) into NBC Bristol guise, since sadly now sold on through a variety of dealers and was last used as a Playbus. Poor thing!

Somewhere I have a picture of a Reliant 3 wheeler in VT livery, taken at an open day - probably Crewe.

Sorry that I can't get a picture on my tablet, but I always thought a 320/321/322 loked like the rear of a fiat ciquicento

The chap that owned it also had one in the Intercity Swallow livery.

Hmm... I see your point.

I remember seeing a photo of a Transit-sized van in NSE colours, complete with yellow end! Can't seem to find it now though...

I remember someone a while back mentioning here that he co-owned a van decorated in the style of a 47, unofficially allocated to a depot but scrapped in 1992... Posted a photo, but can't find it.

Personally speaking here...I think the VW Crafter van looks much, much better than a Class 70......& they do not seem to have the same 'spontaneous combustion' issues like the class 70's..:D

The older EMU's in the Netherlands where the driver's cab sits above the end corridor connection are the spitting inage of a Bristol freighter aircraft (the one you could put your car on and do Lydd-Le Touquet.) Sorry can't post a pic from a mobile device.
