A failure of the electricity supply between Ashford International and London St Pancras International is resulting in severe disruption to High Speed services.

Trains are expected to remain disrupted until the end of the day. The electricity supply which powers the High speed route between Ashford / Ebbsfleet and London St Pancras International has failed.

Not a great day for travel HS1, advice for Southeastern customers to travel via the classic routes via London Bridge. Seems like quite a few Eurostar cancellations too.

Seems it happened at about 0930 this morning. I'm sure I saw somewhere that two trains were trapped in the tunnel near St Pancras for a while. May have been on National Rail, but can't find any reference to it now.

Pity the Southfleet Junction to Fawkham Junction line is not available as at least SE Trains could have diverted some services to Victoria. They used to run Route learners along it but they ceased some time ago.

Both Traksy.uk and OpenTrainTimes maps are showing, as of 23:03, the 5J46 0847 St. Pancras International - Ashford Down Sidings as sitting just inside the tunnel at Dagenham. Was this the guilty train and has it brought the wiring down?

Hoping it's fixed by the morning.

I meant to ask on here a few weeks back about this as there was a test train shown as running or due to run over this connection around the 30th November around 3am - It was due to go ... > Wennington Crossovers > Gravesend > Wennington Crossovers > Singlewell Loop > Southfleet Junction > Fawkham Junction > Swanley > …. . Unfortunately, the screenshot I have on my phone doesn't show the headcode or actual date. I thought this link had been lifted at the London end? At the same time, Traksy was showing the signalling blocks as 'NOAC' whereas they normally show 'NODC' which I thought odd.

The people of Ashford have reason to be very grateful to have three separate routes to London. The passengers of Eastbourne, Brighton, Worthing and everywhere inbetween must be jelous !

Make that four, therest a Southern season ticket available via Three Bridges... Would anyone buy one with the journey time involved?

Maybe if they needed to go via Gatwick regularly ?

Sorry for the thread drift...
If I search National Rail Journey planner now for Ashford to Gatwick, every result is either Ashford > St Pancras > Gatwick or Ashford > London Bridge > Gatwick.
Adding an avoid London Bridge gets everything routed via Victoria. No Marshlink and no via Tonbridge-Redhill.

I would have thought Edenbridge was the most direct route, albeit not one renowned for its reliability.

Rather oddly the Southeastern Twitter feed on the BBC website at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/topics/cywd23g0gyvt/southeastern indicates that a limited High Speed service was able to operate from about 16.30, albeit with a queueing system in operation at St Pancras, but both Real Time Trains and Open Train Times appear to show that all Southeastern High Speed trains were cancelled for the rest of the day.

Real Time Trains only lets you look up the departures from a station for the last 7 days, but you can look up a train longer ago by clicking on that train from any day in the last 7 days and then manually changing the date to the one you want in the web browser once you've got the timings for that train on your screen. For example, the timings for the 16.25 St Pancras-Faversham for today are at http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W00187/2019/01/23/advanced, and you can get the timings for that train for 15th January by simply changing the date: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W00187/2019/01/15/advanced

It also seems odd that Eurostar trains were still able to run, albeit with delays of up to 90 minutes, even though AFAIK they share the same tracks as Southeastern High Speed for most of the route.

If only one line was closed completely (the other perhaps being speed restricted), it's possible that there was single line working going on, as I believe the route is bidirectionally signalled and there are a reasonable number of crossing points. And Eurostar would have been prioritised over Southeastern mostly because Southeastern passengers have alternatives...

I imagine that Southeastern switched to a VSTP schedule. They've done this before when there's been issues on the line and they dont ttend to show up on RTT. The last time I experienced it other apps (Nat Rail Enq. aba Southeastern's own IIRC) showed the cancelled schedule departure and the replacement service at the same times.

via Hastings & Brighton
via Canterbury (walk between the two stations)
