I thought it was probably time to start a HSTs in preservation thread, so here we go. I will try and keep this as updated as possible.

Note: I haven’t included LSL yet as they are more commercially ran than preserved, and as a result have their own thread.

Sort of, I consider those more privately owned as along with 40711 they are kept at private sites and unlikely to be running in pres for some time (particularly 353). The same going for the two on a farm in Cambridgeshire, and the ex LNER Farewell rake (not yet converted to camping coaches).

I’ll add in 40900 though.

I saw an HST at Birmingham New Street around 4pm on Sunday. Every coach had a different livery including the 2 power cars. Was it one of the preserved HSTs?

Looks to have been a Locomotive Services' stock move from Toton back to their Crewe base.

there were 2 HST through Brum at essentially the same time on Sunday:
  • Blue Pullman that worked a Nottingham > Paignton and back posho tour ( passing through New Street en route to Crewe)
  • 125 Group set that worked from London to Weardale and back ( and was passing through Brum en route to Barrow Hill from Wemberlee)

From the description I suspect the later was seen.

(Both passed Fenny Stratford over the weekend and I was away so saw neither - meaning I still haven't seen an HST on the Marston Vale!)

Ah, yeah, didn't spot the 125 Group working (or didn't recognise what it might be), despite the two workings being adjacent on Realtime Trains.

That was the 125 Group set on the 'Locomotion & Weardale' tour, one Rio power car, one EM power car, one GW green coach, one Inter City coach and five EM coaches
