From the SENRUG website:

Network rail plans to carry out major track renewal work at weekends which will involve renewing Benton junction, Morpeth station junction, Newham Bog and Ulgham Grange.

Local and Main line train services will not run on Saturdays or Sundays on the following dates:
16/17, 23/24 September & 30 Sept/ 1 Oct, 7/8 Oct.

The train operators will provide a replacement coach service check with them for times for this.

For the following four weeks the work will switch to Chevington and Longhouton. A local train service will operate between Morpeth and Newcastle. Main line trains will be replaced by coaches. Dates are Saturdays and Sundays:
14/15, 21/22, 28/29 October & 4/5 November

During this work it is expected that GNER services from Newcastle to Scotland will be diverted via Carlisle, again check train operating companies before travelling.

Pick up you timetable here: http://www.gner.co.uk/GNER/Calendar...E9B-4716-924F-0E48746D1532}&NRCACHEHINT=Guest

So, get planning your HST photting trips now!

I noticed this in GNER's engineering works page earlier this month. There are also some other interesting GNER diversions on Saturday nights from 16th September, when the ECML appears to be closed between Doncaster and Colton Junction. Some services are being replaced by HSTs and diverting via Askern and Knottingley (a very rare route!), whilst others are starting from Leeds as HSTs and running via Garforth.

Meanwhile Hull Trains and the GNER Hull Executive are running via Goole.

Those of you intending to do some HST bashing should be aware that the NR Rovers & Rangers section indicates that GNER no longer accept Tyne Valley Day Rangers (£13), presumably since this Day Ranger no longer includes Newcastle to Morpeth. There is a CDR Newcastle-Carlisle at £11.75; those of you travelling from further afield may be able to do it cheaper...
