One of the few good reasons to go "Parly" rather than full closure, I guess.

Nothing stops there at all, though, which is a bit more than Parly. Admittedly it didn't go through the full closure process, but the effect was the same.

Some news about the redevelopment of the IBM site, including the station:

I've only been past the station once to walk the Greenock Cut when I was in drydock at Garvel but who on earth is going to drive there to get the train to Glasgow?? There would seem to be much better options elsewhere to me? Is this a red herring for planning or grant assistance?

I can imagine that being quite a nice place to live too if the residential development meets the minimum standards (although I don't know if those sre just advisory in Scotland also?) and is sensibly priced. Just 1tph wouldn't be the best though.

Quite a lot better than nothing, though, and likely to attract people who need to travel to Glasgow regularly, if there's nice new properties on offer.

I live in a new development in Winchburgh. We were promised a station by December 2018, but there's no sign of it yet. :( They're off to a big head start.

I believe Scotrail still needs to perform basic level maintenance which they wouldn't if the station was closed.

Fair enough, but from a passenger perspective, it doesn't feel necessary to draw any distinctions. It's not legally closed, but practically it is.

Since there was no legal public access to the station, it doesn't really make much difference anyway. :)

Haha! Didn't see anyone pay much attention to that when I went there. It was a bit different when I got off a train at British Steel Redcar, and was immediately approached by security guards. They seemed happy I wasn't up to anything nefarious, and escorted me off the site in a friendly manner.

I know, hence why I said 'legal public access' rather than 'public access' - in theory it shouldn't have made any difference since nobody should have been using the station anyway.
