I have an interview for track technician coming up both inspection and maintenance gangs in the same interview. I’m already employed with network rail as an operative. Any one sat the interview and know any pointers? I literally have no clue what sort of questions will be asked.

Thanks in advance

Pete

I also work for NR as a track op, a friend in my gang recently went for a technician interview within the same depot we already work in, apart from ice breaker questions and safety related questions one thing he was asked was to explain the start to finish procedures of lifting and packing. chances of you being asked that I dunno!?

anyway mate good luck

Yes always safety! When they ask you those types of questions, as you would know. But as you already work for them I’m assuming you must already know the people who will interview you or you moving to a different depot. Hope it goes well

Thanks for your reply’s I’m at the same depot but it’s different managers interviewing. I’m confident with the safety related questions. I’m just wondering what sort of maintenance/inspection questions may get asked! Ladder23 thanks for your reply mate I’ll make sure I have that covered just in case!

Hi,please help I've got a track technician interview too and thought I would ask through this thread, did you get the job first of all? And what questions were you asked???? Mines also a inspection/track operative combination of colleagues at my depot going for the job so very similar to your experience so any help would be really welcomed

Hi mate,

Yea I got the job as maintenance technician. A lot of the standard safety related questions and also how to measure a twist fault and the process of msp. Also what to do if found a broken rail/ pair of plates. Make sure you up to date on life saving rules and safety procedures. Also the correct procedures for the maintenance tasks mentioned.

Let us know how you get on

Good evening. Sorry to hijack the thread.
I recently applied for a track tech position and have completed and passed the online tests.

So, I am looking to do some more research should I be given the opportunity to go for interview.
I am not currently in the rail industry. I have found the Network Rail safety central page which I am working through trying to find and read up what I think are relevant areas.

Are there any particular standards those who have gone through this/work in the same area recommend to swat up on?

Regards

Alan

Genreally they ask the same what would you do in this situation or describe a time when you etc etc

The tecnical questions are genreally set by the people interviewing beforehand so may differ from interview to interview

The higher up you go the more tecnical they get

Hello Everyone

I have an interview next week, for Signalling Maintenance ( Operative )
I was looking to get some tips and advice for the interview as I've never had one with Network rail. So any information would be great.
I've been looking up some bits, the 8 NTS, also the 10 lifesaving rules. Basic electrical, I believe they will ask questions regarding work related scenarios? Any other info would be good.

Cheers.
