As the title- is there anywhere where a terminating train only opens some doors?
I'm sure they must exist, but I can't think of any.

Not sure about everywhere, but Ft William and Mallaig are normally able to take the full train.Maybe the Far North Line , The Kyle Line and and the WHL?
It was for many years but changed to simply de-selecting the rear coach of a 3-car around 2017. Drivers had to wait for the guard to release the doors before shutting their desk down & removing drivers key.Wasn't Sheringham a question of locking out one of the vehicles completely, rather than SDO?
They didn’t lock the vehicle as far as I know but did use SDOWasn't Sheringham a question of locking out one of the vehicles completely, rather than SDO?
Definitely not, Lymington Town platform was extended shortly after 450s entered full time service.I seem to remember at one point just after they put 450s on the Lymington Branch line, the rear two cars were locked out of use for the entire journey so technically would have been SDO at Lymington Pier. Not sure if they still do that.
When it's a 9 car the rearmost doors on a 345 are taken out by SDO in Hayes & Harlington Bay Platform
Trains don't get long enough to test (certainly not on the North Highland Lines).Maybe the Far North Line , The Kyle Line and and the WHL?
Ore can only accommodate 4 cars, so Southern services formed of 8 coaches terminating there (plus peak-time Southeastern services) use SDO.
That's laughable, the bay was purpose-built for them and the paint hasn't even dried yet...
a) it should only be few months before the Hayes Shuttle is extendedThe bay was extended but once the 345s can run to Heathrow the bay at Hayes won't see that much use (as I would imagine the half hourly Hayes shuttle will extend to Heathrow).
Isn't there some platforms at Victoria (South Eastern side) which can't handle 12 coach sets without SDO?
b) 3-6 & 8 at Victoria
Was the original question really about SDO at a proper “terminus”; ie trains running up to a set of buffers? If a train needs SDO to stop at a through platform that it then runs through empty, then that’s a slightly easier situation entirely to an example like say Alton. (As mentioned earlier in post #4.)
The key thing there is that when the new front cab is activated, it’s way off the platform end, so the ASDO system now has to deal with inhibiting the front carriages, which were the back carriages on arrival. I’m not sure if the doors stay released while this happens, perhaps there’s someone here who works on that route?
