Is too much safety stuff dangerous?

I work in a safety critical industry and find myself using point-and-call on occasion. I find it's like a mental tick box that the really important stuff doesn't get overlooked.

I find it useful too sometimes, especially when I realise I’m tired or not enough concentrated (being aware: another difficult thing you learn with experience).

I suspect the way the Japanese do their point-and-call has a lot to do with their completely different approach to work. Their obsessive militaristic pointing and calling might work there because of how working is seen. It surely wouldn’t here.
