Im sure your right, it seems like the best thing for me to do personally is to be honest with DB Cargo and tell them I'd like to withdraw.

I would not do that if I were you, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Got to whichever assessment centre invite you get first, then if you pass you can tell the other company that you've already passed.

Why not, then someone who wants to work for DB has more chance of getting the job?

I'm under the impression from other forum posts that The OPC will advise you to proceed with one application at a time as they become aware of two pending assessments.

Happy followed by disappointment I cannot get the day off work for next Thursday or early finish due to summer holidays and the book being full and gutted that I’m going to miss out on this now, maybe next time

As I understand from another forum post, The OPC will be aware you have two assessments lined up and will advise you to choose one or the other.
Personally, I'm thinking freightliner may be more suitable for me but I'd take either!
I might just be better off calling DB and telling them I'd like to hold off on it if possible.

I think the key thing here is the DB role is a shunter/depot driver role and it may take years until you progress to the mainline, who knows how long that may be? I’ve heard it could take 3 years+.

At least with Freightliner you’re going straight into a mainline role.

Not sure who you've heard that from, but with retirements coming up in the next 12 months or so, I'd expect it to be a lot sooner.

I'm not aux fait with the assessments, but If that's one of the proper tests, then no. You no longer meet the criteria, as you would have taken and failed the assessment within the last 6 months.

You can apply for any other operator that doesn’t use the VSE.

Retirements? Most who were thinking of retiring took redundancy 12 months ago.

'Most'? By that, do you mean those who have extended to the end of December, those who withdrew their notice to get a bit longer or those who put in for redundancy, didn't get it, so are looking at retirement through their own choice?

Morning all

Recently looked at this position and it’s already been taken down!

Do any of you have the full requirements and criteria/full job advert, for if it comes around again

Hope everyone's assessment went ok! Hopefully the way the GBT is marked is in my favour

I have absolutely no idea how I did - I think I preferred the GBT to the rest, the tones really threw me! Ah well, we shall see!
