Hello,
As I'm sure has been noted by many people since the advent of http://www.opentraintimes.com and similar copycat sites, the schedules of fast trains shows passing times at principle stations en route.
For example, looking at the non-stop Kings Cross to York trains, timing points are Finsbury Park, Alexandra Palace, Potters Bar, Welwyn GC, Stevenage, Hitchin, Sandy, then every station from Huntingdon to Durham inclusive, then Newcastle and Morpeth.
My question is what places are conspicuous from their absence as timing points - maybe places that are fairly large stations, large towns, etc etc.
