A quick poll to define the lead times between completing a driver medical to receiving a contract (job offer)
Surely will depend on the company? I had a provisional start date before the medical, and didn't actually get the contract until the day before I started.A quick poll to define the lead times between completing a driver medical to receiving a contract (job offer)
Of course it will depend on the company but was just a general poll without having to get into too much depth/detail. If you’re lucky enough not to give notice, such would seem in your case getting a contract and starting the next day. In my case I wouldn’t be able to start the next day after a contract due to notice period etc.Surely will depend on the company? I did have to give notice! Had to give my notice in between getting the provisional date and the medical. I wasn't the only one on my course who was in the same position. If you’re lucky enough not to give notice, such would seem in your case getting a contract and starting the next day. Quite a brave thing to do without a contract then, no? Especially with it being a “provisional date” dependant on a medical resultI did have to give notice! Fairly brave, but as I say I wasn't the only one on my course who was put in that position. If you have a 4 week notice period, and get told "we'd like you to start in 5 weeks based on you passing the medical in three weeks time - but if you can't start then we can't guarantee you'll be on a course before your place in the talent pool expires" (which is what happened to me) you have a fairly difficult choice to make.Quite a brave thing to do without a contract then, no? I would imagine you will know if u will fail it or not, if not sure, pop to the optician, get a hearing test, dont take drugs or turn up drunk, and you'll be fine. Some of these responses are panicking me slightly.
I’ve been offered a job pending a medical but I wasn’t given a start date. All they told me was that the course was likely to start in April.
I need to give a months notice. What the hell do I do if my FOC give me a week’s notice?!
Could it be that the people who were given short notice were offered places because somebody else dropped out?!
Lol! Pretty confident I’m OK on all those. My concern is they’ll only give me a week’s notice when I need to work 4!I would imagine you will know if u will fail it or not, if not sure, pop to the optician, get a hearing test, dont take drugs or turn up drunk, and you'll be fine.
I think what you’re talking about a provisional job offer when the original poster is referring to an actual confirmed contract. I’ve been given a vague idea of when I’m likely to start but nothing concrete. Both the toc I trained with and the one I'm now at , gave the job offer first, pending medical. I thought that would mostly be the way , as no point putting you through a medical if no job to give.
