RCSTLE

Nothing fits the first two letters, let alone the rest of the puzzle!

I think it is like this.

K/R
G
R/C/S/T/L/E
C/F/G/H/J/K/L/M/O/P/Q/T/U/W/X/Y/Z
S/A/H/A/M
E
F/O/R/D/H/A/V/E

But I don't know of any stations that have there first letter as k or r and then g as the second letter.

I made a mistake (sorry). Here:

My first's in Tewkesbury, Kew Gardens and Flookburgh
My second's in Dundee, Greenock and Edinburgh
My third's in Barnard Castle, not Chester-le-Street
My fourth's not in Inverness or Aberdeen
My fifth is in Seaham, but not Peterlee
My sixth's in Caernarfon but not Pwllheli
My last's in Milford Haven and Haverfordwest
It's not in in St Asaph, Wrexham, Rhyl or Prest*
*-atyn.

Apologies for that. The railway station is now hidden inside that clue.

My first is in Koopa, but not in Bowser
My second is in Sonic, as well as Robotnik
My third isn't in Luigi, nor Goomba, Toadstool or Blooper
My fourth isn't in Nintendo, or Super Entertainment System
My fifth isn't in Sega, and most definitely isn't in Dreamcast, Saturn and Mega Drive
My sixth is in Phil Collins, but not in Genesis
The seventh won't fall like a domino, but will wind up like The Brazilian
My eighth's in the Land of Confusion. It had the Invisible Touch.
My ninth's not Throwing It All Away. That's because Tonight, Tonight, Tonight isn't bin night.
My last is in the missing song. It enjoyed it so much, it listened to it twice.

KPA
ONI
CFHJKNQVWXYZ
BCFGHJKLQVWXZ

are my first five clues.
After the first two, 16 stations remain. 10 fail clue 3, 4 fail clue 4, remaining 2 fail at clue 5.
Where am I going wrong?

He liked his Routine, although it's not Fine,
of getting his morning tea, whilst queueing in line.
That drink always made him Content, and not Whine.

However, they had only Coffee, no Cream.
So he went for Extra Strong, he said with no Self-esteem
But he did want a Cookie, with some Clotted Cream

When he got back to the office, he used the Lift, and the Stairs,
To go to his Desktop and Office Chairs
Where he Sat down and said: Oh! Life's fair.

Note for this riddle: 9 lines, 9 letters. Italic words used for clues. "My fourth is in Coffee, not in Cream" would be the non-story version of clue 4, whereas "My eighth is in Desktop, as well as in Office Chairs" would be a paraphrasing of clue 8.

Note for this riddle: Words used for the clues are the italic parts. Where no/not/none is used, that means that the following word doesn't contain the letter we look for. Where words are in italic in both the bit before, and after the comma, the letter should be in both parts. Every line is a letter.

Here we go again. Time to unsubscribe I think.

Sorry, what did I do wrong here? It's not got any strange words, and names.
Instead of the "My first is in", I've written it as a story.

"My first is in Routine, yet not in Fine"
is now "He liked his Routine, although it's not Fine.

Is this that troublesome?

Although I can understand if my 'clarification' made it seem more difficult, I actually wanted to keep it as simple as possible, but just changing the form a little. So I altered the explanation for now, hopefully you see that it's not that different at all.

ROUT (228)
TEA (61)
COT (5)

The rest is possible through length, so is this Uttoxeter?

Continuing the story...

He got out of his seat, 'cause he was beginning to feel the heat
He put his headphones on, but not to listen to Madness's rockinest, rock-steady beat ...
...instead opting for Guns N' Roses and Queen.

He skipped You Don't Fool Me, Don't Stop Me Now, but not Fourteen Years
However, he fancied a change, no more blue, red, white and purple
Opting instead for silver, no maroon or green
And drove to the record shop, via the cinema
He sold his illusion, not to multiply
His profits, like the man who made it
a certain ginger songwriter whose details I won't reveal

Why? It works. You are just doing the words in italics.

E/A/T
U/E/N
D/L/M
S/V
C/E
S/O/N

Is this the correct working?

Something's gone wrong here... I'll rewrite it and see if it works any better.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Right...
My first is in Thornton Heath, as well as chocolate
My second isn't in peril, nor Peverel, but is in Hatfield
My third is in Uttoxeter, minus the toxins
The fourth's gone into hiding. It's not in Hamburg, Munich, Koln, Bonn or Denmark
My fifth should be easier to find. It's in Llandudno, at the Junction.
The sixth is in six, the seventh is in cent
My eighth is in Oxshott, Oxfam and Oxted
My last isn't in Waddon Marsh. Instead, it's in the next stations both ways.

This is the preferred type of riddle layout, although your other type may be OK in the future. If you have any queries about formats/layouts, feel free to send me a PM.

Thurnscoe very nearly fits, did you mean that?

My second's in Lisa and also in Bart
My third's not in Grampa, also not in Maggie
My fourth's not in Itchy, or Krusty or Scratchy
My fifth's not in Moe, but in Lenny and Flanders
My sixth's in Nelson Muntz, and Skinner and Milhouse
My seventh's not in Wiggum or in Groundskeeper Willie
My eighth's not in Mr. Burns, or Smithers or Patty
My ninth is in Apu, but not Carl or Lovejoy
My tenth's in Ralph Wiggum, not Comic Book Guy
My eleventh's in Simpson, but not Bouvier
My last's not in Lisa or Bart, but in Homer.

A tribute to closed stations across the country.

My first is in Whitby West Cliff, but not in White Bear
My second waits at Woodland Park, as well as Olmarch Halt
My third can't be found in Wombourn, nor Barbers Bridge and Chittening
My fourth is in Cockerham Cross Halt, not Old Ynysybwl Halt or Pensnett Halt
My fifth is in the Closed Station Master, and its titleholder
My sixth is in Penruddock, but not Brunswick Dock
My seventh is as the first, but in both of them
My eighth isn't in Osbaldwick (or Baldrick), instead found in Birstwith
My ninth is in Bethesda, in Patney and Chirton
My last has gone into hiding. It's not in Great Bridge South, Primrose Hill, Otterham, Takeley or Kelmarsh.

I'm not going to try this one, because I want to see if I can bring people back over to the quiz. At the best of times it's still only me, DasLunatic, Springs Branch and Quakkerillo. I know that people like fishquinn and IanD would enjoy the game if we stuck to the simpler riddles.

I've spent a bit of time on this riddle using my icily-efficient, logical algorithm and failed to find a solution. I have about four contenders, but each has a significant number of wrong letters. Is it a National Rail station? Is it solvable from the clues as written?

I'll take an educated guess from the short-list and say Colchester ?

It is not Colchester.

One of the stations before it share many of the same letters, if this helps.

I don't need simpler riddles. I enjoyed riddles of all complexity as long as they followed the rules of the game.
