Morning all,
I was due to go back to Cornwall this morning.
Travelling on an advance South Western Railway ticket 08:20 Waterloo to Exeter St. David's then GWR to Penzance. However due to the lightning strike, trains from Plymouth to Truro are subject to delay and cancellation. At the moment no road transport is available. (There is planned engineering work already for bus from Truro to Penzance)

If I abandon my journey due to this disruption, are SWR obliged to offer a fee free refund as it is not their service that is disrupted?

Not much time to sort this out, but can get to SWR station before travel time at the moment!

Just interested on your opinions.

By the time you get to Plymouth I imagine it will be rectified. Lightning strikes recently have been sorted within a couple of hours.

I agree with @richw This wouldn't stop me from travelling, the absolute worst that would happen is that you'd need to return home but I believe this is unlikely.

If you decide not to travel than whoever sold you the tickets is responsible for the refund.

Yes, all your tickets should be refunded without any fee if you decide not to travel due to disruption.
