Found out this morning was unsuccessful due to having two attempts at an application.
Two attempts in the same process, or two attempts for a similar position in your lifetime?
This year is my second attempt at an apprentice position out of Newcastle too.

Just curious - does anyone ever actually get these LNER jobs?! I’ve applied 3/4 times and each time I get the same - no drivers needed, date changes to courses etc… always recruiting yet never seem to actually take on drivers

My thoughts exactly. I've applied 3 times to LNER. No idea what's going on with XC either!

Seems weird doesn’t it. So many people in the pool and always recruiting with no movement. Not sure why they keep wasting our time. My guess would be they get filled internally? ‍

I know a trainee driver at LNER. I think it's just a case of insane demand, more so than almost any other TOC.
On his first day, they were told they were the final 10 of 16,000 applicants.

Glad he got through, but every time they recruit its not even a personal rejection, its just we don’t have courses, don’t need drivers… last time I made it to past the online and was waiting for OPC when they said they no longer needed drivers. Just seems like they are unorganised.

Last year I got through to DMI. I was rejected after the interview. I asked for feedback but never received it, hoping that I worked out where I went wrong in case I get to that stage this time. Apparently I was down to the last 100 from 4000 shortlisted. Someone I spoke to on here, who was an external, got a job!

Just wondering whether anybody has received any update regarding this application?

I’ve heard nothing since the last email saying it’s been put back to later this year… hopefully hear something more soon or at least if we’ve passed the video interview or not

Hi all, I've had an invite to book an interview this morning. Has anyone else heard anything?

It hopefully means they're moving ahead with a training school at some point in the near future.

Best of luck to you two. I was (am?) in the same process but still not had an update, so feeling a bit crestfallen. Glad to read someone is getting good news though.

What dates are the interviews taking place, Wondering if they're still working through the applicants.

Has anyone received an unsuccessful response yet?

Good luck those who are getting to the interview stage!

Morning mate, I have mine tomorrow morning. My choices were between today and tomorrow I think but I would imagine they will be adding more dates as they work through everyone.

I had mine today, hopefully I’ve done enough. Felt it went better than the video interview. A much better experience being face to face!

Fingers crossed for you mate.

I have mine tomorrow morning, must admit it's the most nervous I've been about an interview! Hopefully we find out the outcome fairly quickly and fingers crossed theirs a training school starting soon.

Well done mate - good luck.

I'm tomorrow, hoping it goes as well as my video one!

Me too - nerves definitely set in now! Hopefully, should we be successful, there is a planned intake relatively soon.

Submitted my video on 11/3.
Good luck all. I’m hoping for my own sake they’re still going through them and will be putting more dates on soon.

Anyone know how many jobs there are and when yous that have had interviews hear back?
I submitted video an interview while back now.
Hi Katie, I did ask the question today and there was no definitive answer. The interviewer said their is usually 10 to a course but they are typically multi depot as well, so Newcastle, London etc and classroom training is based at York. So there may be 1 candidate from Newcastle, there may be more.

They are potentially looking at a training school starting October/November time and are currently interviewing 25 candidates. Those who are successful in their DMI will go on to do the OPC tests. I did my OPC tests last year and passed to enhanced but whether that still passes for LNER, I don't know. If they want me to do them again, then so be it.

With regard to the actual interview, the 2 driver managers who interviewed me were great, they made me feel comfortable and all in all it was as good an experience as you can expect. Hopefully I did enough to progress but I'm under no illusions that I am fortunate to have made it this far as I'm sure the competition is very high.

@mechanic2 not sure what time you had your interview, mine was 10 to 11 but hopefully it went well for you. There was someone else going in straight after me so they're not hanging around, which is good.

Did anyone who has been for interview get informed when they might hear back with their outcome?
Am I right in thinking all the initial interviews have been carried out now? Has anyone heard anything yet either way?
There was 16 interview slots available when I booked mine.
Good luck everyone who has got this far.

I didn't ask tbh, but I was told they were interviewing 25 people and looking to start a training school in October/ November time.

Good luck to everyone who interviewed as well.
