I don't think it will be no 150 day yet, a 3 car 172 was on test today between Worcester and Gloucester. Unless all diagrams are covered.

I heard a rumour today that 150 001/2 are heading for EMT. Like i said, just a rumour but from a very reliable source.

I have a copy of an early edition of Rail magazine dated from 16th November where it states that FGW are asking the DFT if they can have 150001 + 150002 to do the Reading - Basingstoke Route so that it will free up the 16x's doing that route.

Both have toilets. When 150002 was running round as a two car numbered 154002 (158 test bed) the toilet was removed and used as an electrical cupboard for various bits of test kit.

001 and 002 going to EMT. Would be great! Maybe a class 455 refurb. Well, filmed 001 and 106 race through Dorridge with a cheeky two tone and also had the pleasure of 105 today. Probably my last Snow Hill line trip on a 150. But 001 and 106 must have been hitting 80-85!

Max unit speed 75. Max line speed for non disc braked stock 75, Fitted with OTMR's, so will NOT be exceeding 75, i expect a traction inspecter & senior LM managers on board so speeding will NOT be done.

Stupid comments about excess speed only serves to get people in trouble and make staff anti enthusiasts (especially as i believe todays traincrews are donating wages to charity)!!.

Worked a steam special back in BR days and some one came up shout that we had done over 90, only shut up when traction inspecter offered to give him a close inspection of the shovel(internally if a recall correctly)!.

Please take care when posting about speeds etc.etc.!

A brilliant day was had by all, no doubt a few trip reports will appear later. There was plenty of horn blowing in the morning, with long continuous blasts as we pulled out of stations.

I did 11 1/2 hours on 150001, think I'm mad!

If EMT got 150 001 and 002, do you think they'd try to swap them with Northern for 153/6s?

They're not going to EMT, no 150's are. 150 001 and 002 are going to FGW for the Basingstoke - Reading local service...

Just like the Adelantes definitely are and there's no point discussing it even academically...

except it isn't official at all - no lease agreement has been signed as yet. There's a long history of these things being a "done deal" and yet not getting agreed - see CT swapping 156s for SR 158s, EMT hiring Mk2s + locos, TPE extending the 185s and ATW running to London as 4 examples off the top of my head.

You should have heard it at Worcester Shrub Hill when the ECS left to reverse last night, deafening it was! And the time flew by didn't it!

I did 12 hours and 43 minutes of the tour, although I've not taken out the times we were off-train for photo stops and breaks. It was an absolutely awesome day out, with plenty of noise and horning going on at various points. New Street will never be the same after that!

Not got many photos due to low battery levels, but got a fair bit of video footage. When I eventually get a chance to upload that, I will. A trip report was also written last night, I'll get that on here in due course too. It won't be super detailed, as I only started writing it on the way home, I was enjoying the day too much to sit there with my A4 project book to write up the events of the day as we went!

Almost all track advertised to be done was done, only missing out on a bit at Tyseley (I'm sure we were due to do more than just the Up Through Siding) and Bromsgrove loop. Topping the bank at 34mph (according to a chap in our coach of 150001, 4 coaches back from the front) on the Lickey was quite impressive, and the train was very well loaded all day until the drop-off at Snow Hill. Not so many of us got off at Worcester Shrub Hill at the end, and following a 172 from Tyseley to Kidderminster made us quite late, but I was very pleased with the day all in all.

Now we just need some more TOC-operated charters. FGW doing one in 2012 to Portishead as the main feature, and other bits like the loop lines at Bristol Parkway, would be nice. Can't see that happening though somehow.

EDIT: Just seen on my RailMiles Traction League that my 150 mileage has now, for the first time in years, overtaken my 221 mileage! :D Over 250 miles according to my logs too on the 150s for the entire thing, not bad at all! Finally 150281 has been knocked off the top spot for my highest mileage 150 too, 150001 having overtaken it by 3 miles and 10 chains. 294 miles and 77 chains on 150001 now, and 291 miles and 79 chains (beating 150281 by 2 chains!) on 150106. Very happy with that! :D

The farewell is premature for 150001 it seems, as it is out this morning on the 06.45 Worcester - Dorridge etc with 153354 and should finish with the 17.28 from Dorridge tonight all being well.

That was using my satnav which is within a 1mph +/- but between kiddy and Worcester both time we hit max line speed!

Been looking through my notes of when I have had 001 and 106 in the past, and it turns out that 106 is one of the very first 150s I travelled on (Nottingham to Sheffield on 5/9/1987 - via Toton apparantly), whilst on the same day had 150229 from Sheffield - New Mills Central.

Have had both on the Crewe - Derby line in the days of 'Regi-Rail' / Central Trains, and had 106 on the Marston Vale recently.

Very first 150 I can find any record of travelling on was 150144 from Severn Tunnel Junction to Cardiff Central (13/6/1987).

Longest single journey on a 150 was 150121 from Tamworth to Cardiff Central (129 miles) on 5/4/2002.

The only 150 I still need for haulage (apart from withdrawn 52209/212) is 150281.

well has i expected there were a few 150s out today .
early in the morning 106-105 were paired up with a 172 .
after a spit mid moring it left 106-105 to work to gt malvern .

150001 +153334 worked the normal stourbridge - dorridge -stoubridge turn.

150109 was in TY yard when i past , BUT was pressed in to service and worked a service to kiddy and should still be out there with the rest of em tonight . the dorridge and gt malvern will (im told ) be the norm still for a while yet .:D

LM 150 farewell tour part 2 anyone ?? :)

Saw loads of 150s out today, morning commute for me was the combo unit and the evening one a two coach 150 packed liked sardines. Really getting desperate for these 172s now, hurry up London Midland!

My train was a 4 coach 172(s) this morning, as opposed to the normal 3. :)
