London to Ipswich journey being made on 18th Feb. Engineering works mean official diversion is tube to Newbury Park, replacement bus service to Ingatestone and train to Ipswich.

Given the disruption and discomfort that will cause, is Kings Cross - Cambridge - Ipswich a permitted route, either all the time or through easement?

If not, what's the best way of ticketing this route?

is Kings Cross - Cambridge - Ipswich a permitted route ... ?
Sorry, no.

Please see the thread help london to Ipswich via Cambridge please from earier in January.

On that occasion, I recommended a £41.60 Standard Off-Peak Return London Terminals - Bury St Edmunds route via Cambridge. This time, the most appropriate ticket will depend on:
  • whether a single or return journey is being made
  • whether any Railcard is held
  • whether any return leg is the same day or a later day
  • whether any return leg is to be by the same route as the outward leg, and
  • the proposed time(s) of travel.
