I know how you feel, I was offered the conditional offer last October and only started Reed screening checks last month. (For night tube).
My screening last 3months, before they offered the medical test and start date. My first start date was offer in September and it was changed to October instead as they were some errors with the payroll system. My conditional offer was given at the 1st of May.

That’s a very long time I hope I get my medical date before the end of the year I got my conditional offer end of July

I did mid August. I don’t think the portal is as up to date though as my eligibility to work was done after a few days but it’s yet to be ticked as complete on the portal after 3 weeks!

Cyber attacks won’t be helping either. Congrats also :)

My Etw was never ticked off even when I completed screening, don’t worry about it

Hi all just passed my assessment today and got my conditional offer! Just a quick question how does everyone find getting in on an early shift ? Is there a car park ? If you can’t drive what’s your best option and is it true they give you stations max1hr away from where your from?

Well done!

Mostly no parking, but some limited availability outside Central London stations. There is a staff taxi system for dead earlies and dead lates. It's run similar to a bus service calling at certain points (mostly stations) and bookable by your supervisor for you.

Any chance you have the stations they can pick you up from ? My closest station is Loughton so just trying to work out my actions do they all go into central London ?

Yes, of course they do.

Seems like:

Ongar
Epping
Theydon
Homebase Loughton
Power House
Loughton

and then all the way into town and beyond.

There's also a circular route.

It's a complex network, but does allow you travel long distances, even if you have to be awake very early for some! It's not a perfect system, but it is adaptable, and they do add additional stops now and again. It's also a good chance to get to know other operational staff as you'll be sharing with all sorts!

I wouldn't concern myself about this until you get a station and can work out a route. It's the least of your worries at this stage actually.

Yh the cyber attacks are a pain... The screening team on the portal seem very responsive though so I'm sure you could confirm with them.

And thanks! Hopefully we get our medical/training dates soon.

Mine was ticket off on the side panel but not on the bottom it only ticket off the bottom once it was all completed. I think it is only fully completed when TfL requests it (I could be wrong)

Doubt there will be anyone here in the know, but does anyone have any idea if these cyber attacks are actually delaying the onboarding process? Even in a knock-on manner?

The last I heard, 12k of the 30k staff required to reset their passwords had been done already - I suspect by Wednesday, the vast majority of office based staff will have access again. So I would guess it won't have a significant impact on onboarding.

(Although TfL haven't fully opened access to all software even after staff have their new credentials, so who knows.)

Hey gjeffery,

only reference employment within the last 3 years so from 2021 - 2024. If you worked or studied between these years include it. Even if it was just for a month or part time etc.. anything between those years you must include otherwise it'll delay the screening process when they have to find out themselves.

Currently on the screening process and forgot to add a few part time jobs that I had forgotten I even did

Wanted to ask you how long did you have to wait to actually start the role after all the checks and screening , because my reed screening is complete but they won’t offer me a medical yet as they are saying it’s too early for me yet
My medical was booked before my reed check, tbh everything is probably on hold because of the cyber attack

It’s within the last 3 years so if you were still working that job within 21-24 you include it. Even if u started it at 2019

Has anyone tried getting in touch with Onboarding recently about start dates, I am planning to travel back home in October. I wrote to Onboarding before 3 dsys, asking about start dates in November to get clarity however there's no response. I got offered in June, medical was done almost before month.

Once again, the ongoing cyber attack at TfL is having a significant impact on all aspects of the business. I don’t think people are fully comprehending (or perhaps even reading, based on how often things get repeated in this thread) the magnitude of this. 30,000 staff were locked out of their accounts overnight, and the only way to regain access is via a one-to-one appointment. Even this only restores extremely limited access to the TfL IT infrastructure, and priority is being given to the users and applications that are critical to the safe operation of the railway, not eg recruitment.

I’ve said it before on these recruitment threads and I’m sure I’ll say it again: if you want a long and illustrious career you need to learn the art of patience - it is an essential attribute needed for pretty much every role in the business, and there will be equally long waits for promotions, training courses and more. Learn the patience now and you’ll find this adjustment significantly easier going forwards.

I spoke to someone yesterday as my reed screening was completed yesterday.
I called to see if good confirmation all was good and attempt to book a medical in ASAP and was essentially told that all emails weren't back online, the June intake are being sorted into November and December atm and anybody later will be realistically looking at the New Year.

Which for me is a bummer as I only just got offer at end of August and am desperate to start my new life in London

Thanks bluegoblin for clarification and sorry if you are bothered

Update (19.09.24): References were delayed a bit due to missing employment on my part. But have resolved them now so just waiting on those to be received. DBS was completed today after being submitted yesterday. All checks sent. Hopefully my screening can be completed by next week.

Yeah, DBS is usually the one that is done first as it’s quite quickly returned

As for the screening, it might take a month or two as did for mine.

The screening will take more than a week, it took 1-2 months for me.
