Hi all i had my assessment day at the OPC for LOROL on the 30/10/2012 has anyone else had it around this time AND HEARD ANYTHING BACK????
Also does anyone know how long it takes after you take an opc assessment to hear back from them???
I know the generic answer is 7-10 days but does anyone know the proper timescale?

I received a phone call 7 days after to say I had passed the assessments at the OPC. There's a lot going on behind the scenes, OPC marking the results and passing them on to LOROL, then LOROL HR sorting out diaries to find a manager and a date for the next interview etc.

Congratulations on having got this far too!

Hi Anthony
Congrats on completing it all just wanna ask, if you don't mind, what you felt was the hardest part of the day? Did it go how you expected and what sort of steps did you take to prepare? I've got my assessment next Tuesday and I am really excited but starting to feel nervous now!

Hi chad do you have your assessment with LOROL as well?
I prepared by going over and over the practise exams and I bought that bop it game to help my coordination. The hardest part I thouht was the structured interview I hated that and found that very hard just be prepared is the main thing I can say

Hi Anthony
Yea my assessment with Lorol is on Tuesday the 6th, I've been through the practice material a few times already and its the same material we had for the last assessment. I've heard the interview is the worst and its been posted on this forum loads that this part is the most stressful part of the application process. I'm just gonna try my best to stay calm if I get that far on the day! Thanks for the advice and I hope you hear some good news soon
One last question, how many people were at the assessment with you? I heard a total of 800 applied for the 8 vacancies!!!
All the best

Normally about 6 at the assessment with you, if theres more applicants they will be on other days, these test places only take about 8 a day at most
Well over 90% of applicants fail at the application form stage unless its an internal vacancy then its almost guaranteed an interview

Hey sorry mate didn't wanna upset you!! I think 800 applied online, I believe a lot get whittled down because of things like distance from the depo and obviously if they don't meet the criteria that's what I've been led to believe. I know of a few people who didn't get asked back from the initial online application so fingers crossed!
Good luck mate let us know how you get on

Hi DJ
Im assuming yours is with LOROL also? I applied on the 27/09 then received an email on the 2/10 to come for an assessment at overground house on the 10/10 then received and email on the 22/10. So it took 12 days to get a reply but I did email LOROL in the morning then got a reply early evening that day

Hello, how did your second assessment day go?

What kind of questions did you have in the criteria based interview?

Thanks.

Hi all
Second assessment day went well the structured/criteria interview was the toughest part of the whole process but I tried to stay calm and be as honest as possible.
For railman, the questions they ask are
1. Give an example of a time you was in an emergency situation
2. Give an example of a time you followed rules and procedures
3. Give an example of a time you worked on your own for long periods
4. Give an example of a time you solved a difficult problem
5. Give am example of a time you attended a training/ college course
They don't just stick to these questions they constantly ask you to elaborate and also look at your overall ability to communicate clearly and effectively

The idea of the structured interview is to see how you cope under stress, they will often ask the same question about 4 or 5 times but none are the same. Same people fail it because they either lose there cool and start to get annoyed at the constant questioning. Strangley enough i actually found the structured interview a lot easier then the rest of the test.

When i went for my test I passed everything apart from the computer, this meant that i failed, that was in 1999 and i have not tried again since.
