Which one is Mucklets Road? I can only find Avenue and Drive?
The proposed route between The Fort and QMU is sketchy, but i believe their building more commercial units behind B&Q and i believe there are going to be many bridges and underpasses around Millerhill depot. It's really not an ideal place to build houses but planning has been submitted and granted.
There will be houses either side of QMU, right up to the houses in the east and right up to Newcraighall Village in the North. South of the A1, Old Craighall, Millerhill, Danderhall and Fort Kinnaird will effectively be joined.
Attached is an image of the couple of routes i think they 30 could take. Difficult as theres no roads there yet.
Mucklets Road doesn't exist as such now as much of it lies under the QMU site. The only bit of it left is the bridge at Musselburgh station which the 30 uses to access the QMU.
Until the A1 bypass was built, it formed part of the back road between Edinburgh and Musselburgh, branching off Newcraighall Road where the Fort is now as Whitehill Road and heading in a generally easterly direction past the goods yard at Millerhill (visible on your image). East of where the A1 is, it became Mucklets Road and then Whitehill Farm Road through Stoneybank, becoming Stoneybank Terrace for its last few yards before meeting Monktonhall Terrace.
When the A1 bypass was built, in 1985, Whitehill Road became a dead end at the goods yard whilst Mucklets Road was sealed off at the Stoneybank end and downgraded to a footpath - albeit a rather wide one - which was realigned when the QMU was built. A new road, the present Olivebank Road, was put in between Newhailes Road and the western end of Mall Avenue as part of the A1 scheme, to maintain a link to Stoneybank and central Musselburgh from the Edinburgh side.
Mention of Mucklets Avenue - as you may know this was the terminus of the 15/15A for many years, and a calling point for the 30 until 2009. On the LRT fare stages for the 15/15A it was listed as Mucklets Avenue (Pylon), after the giant electricity pylon which occupies the central island at the former terminus.
