Are shorts part of the LU driver uniform? I know they're not allowed on any national rail services operations. Just curious if LU are more lenient.
Yes they are. T/Ops that wear them must however carry some paper trousers (or normal uniform trousers for that matter) with them in the event they have to go onto the track. Are shorts part of the LU driver uniform? SWT/SWR have also allowed drivers to wear shorts for years. I guess your national rail ‘not allowed’ might not be national after all...Are shorts part of the LU driver uniform? I know they're not allowed on any national rail services operations. Just curious if LU are more lenient.
Shorts can be worn by London Overground drivers, and possibly MTR drivers too as they also wear the TfL uniform. No requirement to carry trousers.
No longer a requirement to carry paper trousers.Yes they are. T/Ops that wear them must however carry some paper trousers (or normal uniform trousers for that matter) with them in the event they have to go onto the track.
On LU this is still a requirement. No longer a requirement to carry paper trousers.
Tell that to my managers thenOn LU this is still a requirement.
There was a change assurance plan however it was objected to by Aslef so never implemented.Tell that to my managers then
are they allowed to wear kilts?
I don't know, but that would be a funny sightI don't think a tartan kilt would look nice with an LU uniform

It would need to be an approved tartan with the LU roundel incorporated in it's design
Wonder what that would look like?
I understood that paper trousers were to prevent sweaty hairl legs from the electricity, wet hair being a much better conductor than paperpaper trousers would not protect against electricity. They'll provide some protection against dirt (which may be hazardous) and if strong enough against scratches (and thus Weils disease)

Was just about to say the same thing, I don't believe that MTR Crossrail drivers are allowed to wear shorts. All of them wear full length trousers.Unfortunately MTR drivers are not allowed to wear shorts.

https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/media/p...-staff-uniform-to-help-boost-customer-serviceNeither Overground or MTR wear the TfL uniform - they have their own version of it but it is not issued by TfL.
yes their own version but not issued by TfL
There's summer trousers on the uniform ordering website, gotta get one size bigger though.Thanks. I'd love to wear shorts even if it meant carrying paper trousers.
Think paper trousers would be useful in those situations where you might need a change of clothes as you slide towards a red.
