So I have these lumps on my lower legs, except you can only really feel them when standing up. Each lump is about the size of a finger tip and feels quite soft. I am s******* myself tbh and am petrified of going to see a doctor, as cancer runs in my family. I have read about lipoma and that it could possibly be that? Do you know anyone with lipoma?

Possible, I suppose, but lumps can be many, many other things. I had one in my mouth once and it turned out to be a cyst; a mate of mine had something the size of a grape on the side of his neck which turned out to be a blocked sweat gland.
As for cancer running in the family, I was told by a doc once that hereditary factors are only a small part of people getting cancer.
Suggest you get it checked out ASAP so you can stop thinking about it...

With respect, is this something you should be posting about on a railway forum? I doubt many/any readers will be medically qualified. Even if they were so qualified, they couldn’t possibly advise you about these lumps without first examining you.

I suggest you go to your GP.

The only person that can help you is your doctor, not a railway forum.

Not half as petrified as you would be if it did turn out to be an issue and you hadn't bothered. Get to a doctor as soon as possible.

To reiterate what others have said, we are not doctors (of medicine anyway), and even if we were, we could not diagnose you without physically examining you. You should go and see your doctor.

I had a bit of a scare back in 2016 when I found a lump. It turned out to be a cyst and nothing to worry about. Hopefully yours will be too.

Book an appointment first thing tomorrow. Get it done.

As the others say - only a medical doctor can help you.
In the unlikely event that it is cancer, the sooner it is identified and treated, the better the chances of getting rid of it.

I can imagine this is very stressful, but like others I would really encourage you to visit your GP to help you with the diagnosis. Until then try and not get stressed

I'm very sorry to hear about this. It sounds very unpleasant. I know it sounds terribly amateurish but have you tried lying in a nice hot bath for an hour? It is very well known and long-standing way of relieving pain reducing lumps, bumps and swelling. I have just spoken to my aunt who is a doctor and she said she is almost certain that it is not cancer. A trip to see your own doctor might give you the diagnosis you need. I'm sure it is nothing to worry about

I did a quick search and the chances are it is probably nothing to worry about, but you need to get an expert to check to make sure.

However until you have seen a Doctor, it will be a worry. So get yourself checked as soon as you can, so you can relax.

Being stressed and worried isn't good for your health, so the sooner you can put your mind to rest the better!

I can only reiterate what others have said - get yourself checked out ASAP. A couple of years back, I had what I thought might be a major health problem, I put off going to the doctor for a couple of weeks then pretty much flipped and decided I had to see someone urgently and rang my doctor's surgery. I had an appointment in about an hour - I think the fact I'd not been for more than 9 years meant they knew I really wanted to see someone. Fortunately, it was nothing major, but it was a hell of a relief off my mind.

My other half had (going on what you’ve described) something very similar with small lumps in her lower legs etc which turned out to be a condition called Sarcoidosis.
It was an immune deficiency type of illness and we were quite worried about it for a while (she’s actually a very healthy person but had a cancer scare when she was younger so understandably this put the fear of god into her). In the end the doctors were excellent and diagnosed it correctly (this happened about 8 years ago) and after a course of treatment and a change of some of her diet, it went away and she’s been completely fine ever since.
I can totally understand your worries about going to the docs, I’d probably feel exactly the same as you. The thing is though it’s probably something fairly straightforward to deal with if you take a deep breath, make the call and go and deal with it now rather than burying your head in the sand and hoping it’ll go away (there’s some advice in there for all of us men actually...)

It’s far more likely to be something sortable than not, so make that call tomorrow - as the worry of not knowing and just fretting about it is also damaging to your health.
Feel free to pm me if you need any support.

Yes - had a large one removed some years ago. I didn't go to the doctor for ages, until my girlfriend made me! But it was very straightforward and took about 20 seconds for the doctor to diagnose. They don't usually remove them these days unless they are in a location that would cause a problem.

I found a lump on my thigh about 3 years ago, and was worried. Took the doctor about 30 seconds to say it was probably a lipoma. But I got sent for tests which confirmed that. It's still there ...

worst thing you can do is self diagnose . Almost always going to convince yourself it is worse than it is .

But also if it is as you suspect and its the worst case scenario the longer you leave the it the more you reduce your treatment options .

Hopefully its nothing major , but please go and see a Dr and get the ball rolling .

I have got an appointment booked, I'm feeling less nervous about it all now, thanks to all of your comments. It seems like it could be lots of things but thanks to everyone for sharing your stories with me and thanks once again for your kind words. My mother died of cancer two years ago and she had a bemign lump removed from her leg in 2013. So I got worrying naturally.
