Barry,

Apparently it's ready to run, and inside is in better nick than the thumper!

The green one will be on it's way to Ongar in the new year, and once the line opens will be pulled by a green class 37 :D

Great news.

Went on 1497 when it was in service, never actually caught 3CIG 1498 when it was at Lymington, may pop by when the Epping & Ongars open to passengers.

Thanks for the info, certainly cheered me up knowing its safe. :)

Went on 1498 on its last day down at lymmy. The paint was getting abit worn but everything from an eye point of view looked fine like it could go out in public service on the mainline then. The seats windows and doors where all in good nick too :)

That's excellent news. I've been meaning to visit Ongar some time for the thumper !

I echo everyone's thoughts that it's good news that 1498's been saved. Been wanting to visit the EOR for years, now they've got 37029 there's even more reason to go. If I can find the time in 2011, I'll be down there.

Hi All

Thought I had best pop on here and let you know what is happening and to dispel any rumours that quite often appear on the net.

It gives me great pleasure to be able to confirm that we have agreed to purchase the Heritage 3cig 1498 "Farringford", it will be a most welcome addition to our railway here at Ongar, and we eagerly await its arrival at our North Weald Station landing/loading bay.

We have to rule out ANY suggestion that it is going to be coupled with 1111 (205205) Thumper (rolls eyes, anyone would think they don't like it… a Thumper doing 5 coaches up a 1 in 60!!). It is out intention that it will be used as hauled coaching stock. 37029 is NOT fitted with push pull, and (while it's a different matter if you only have a few yards of track) it would be illegal to push the 3CIG for 3+ miles without a proper push-pull communication / controls!
