Anyone travelling on Thameslink services this evening and tonight, be aware that this is currently major disruption to all services, due to multiple issues. Delays are of up to 90 minutes.

- Power supply issues affecting the Thameslink core.
- Track defect near St. Albans
- Overhead wire issues near Elstree and Borehamwood.

AS A REMINDER

At this time, we advise you to not travel if your journey is to/from central London

If you do travel, you will need to use alternative methods to reach your destination

There will be no Thameslink services running through central London

And now a suspension on the Elizabeth Line - West of Bond Street - not good with Paddington being promoted as an access point for the Notting Hill Carnival.

Paddington station is also currently exit only, presumably due to overcrowding issues.

Broken rail at Harlow Town has led to all Cambridge and Stansted services being cancelled from Liverpool Street as well. Kings Cross shut today for planned engineering work, so not a lot of other options for people affected by Thameslink issues.

National Rail website is showing five red banner warnings, so clearly this evening is not a good time to be travelling by train, particularly north and west of London!

Wow that is a lot of disruption for one evening. Perhaps the national rail advert should have the slogan “Nothing beats severe disruption. Nothing beats Do not travel warnings. Nothing beats stranded trains and passengers. Nothing beats not being there”

I’m making a journey from Bristol Parkway to Hitchin. Got held for 47 minutes at Ladbroke Grove due to a trespasser. Thameslink was busy, but moving so managed to get to Luton Airport Parkway.

Then the GW went down with overhead wire problems!

Some services from the Redhill corridor have been turning at London Bridge but does seem that there are also some services running through. No doubt there have to be some running through if a driver is the 'wrong' side of the core.

Including my train to London Bridge en route home, thankfully :).

The power issue was initially expected to take up to three hours to resolve (at least according to WH box when I spoke to them around 1730). It appears that was resolved much quicker then expected.

The track defect earlier was near Cricklewood rather than St Albans, and caused a fair bit of disruption to EMR and GTR on the MML, with everything being put onto the slows for a while from early PM onwards.

Also the rail replacement buses from Royston to Hitchin are not running to a timetable which are being sent out as the driver becomes ready. They are only calling at stations southbound on request from passengers at Royston station.

Thameslink have posted a message, advising passengers NOT to travel into London and to return home as soon as possible.

You should expect severe disruption throughout the evening.

Do not start new journeys into London as many services are cancelled with long delays likely.

If you have already travelled and need to return home this evening please do so as soon as possible, and be prepared for cancellations and extended delays to affect your travel.

Presumably the priority now is to get all displaced/stranded rolling stock and staff back to their associated depots before end of service/lines close?

I got lucky with this. I travelled into London to see a concert tonight. No trains from Stevenage today so it was a toss-up between St Albans to St Pancras or Potters Bar to Kings Cross.

I chose Potters Bar and had empty on time trains both ways :D

Pretty much and try to run last trains (where possible).

There were track workers doing some work about a quarter of a mile south of Radlett on the down fast.

Ok thanks. There was one there a few days ago that screwed everything up for a while - it must have recurred.
