Megabus and Tesco vouchers problem

I tried to book a journey today with Megabus using Tesco vouchers however when I submitted the section after entering the Tesco vouchers number my application was rejected. I phoned Megabus in Glasgow and they told me to pay with a credit card then email Megabus and they will refund the cash. Haven't ordered the tickets yet I am waiting for a better price. Is this a normal procedure or something new?
