If I were Scottish CityLink I'd be looking to maybe reposition and remarket the London services from Scotland as either a premium coach option or focusing massively on journey times, maybe seeing if they can get the end-to-end down with as few stops as possible just as an example And I would probably ditch the Megabus brand all together. And simply market it as Scottish City link

But if the only routes they have are to scotland (which is basically what it will be - the token Cardiff / Swansea services that remain are essentially pointless), then I'm not sure the megabus name will mean much. Especially given this massive reduction in routes is going to be the main thing people end up remembering (hell I won't be surprised if some people think megabus have given up nationwide so won't even bother thinking about the brand as a "living" one!).

Just market it all as Citylink. After all, Falcon is basically linking cities too. Citylink is a decent brand in Ireland too and so the focus could instead be on a strong UK&IRE Citylink brand rather than operating under 3 different brand names (Citylink, Megabus and Falcon).

Something that maybe others can answer, looking on the Megabus site, a number of services are still bookable after Wednesday on strange routes not to/from Scotland. Norwich to Birminghams are still there (albeit revised), plus it seems like a Leeds to Bristol service via Manchester and Birmingham service is there too (2 round trips daily). Are Megabus keeping some routes just in England or are these only on the booking system as an error?

Is McLeans still running the MX11 non stop London-Glasgow and vv,as McLeans coaches are not the best, and looking use the Volvo Double Deckers as they decent brand new coaches. On the Megabus site its showing operated by Megabus or Scottish Citylink. which services London-Scotland are Volvo Double Deckers?.
I believe Stagecoach Cumbernauld use Volvo DD's on the M9/M11. I've seen one or two in London Victoria recently

Stagecoach 9700DDs are used on the M11 and M20 runs.

Park’s do the daytime M9 runs to and from London using their single deck 9700s whilst McLean’s do the overnight variant using either their Yutongs or Irizars

The Megabus routes from Bristol to Birmingham seem to be getting a part reprieve past Thursday. 3 journeys a day in each direction and some extras between Friday and Sunday.

Some are the expected ones that continue to Scotland, but there do seem to be some that don't.

Looks like somebody has closely read their contract with Megabus. Perhaps process hasn't been followed and sufficient notice given.

I think Panoramas still turn up on the M11 and M20 services.

Only very occasionally I believe.

Park’s used to use a Panorama on the short M11 down to Manchester Airport but that no longer operates
Yes, I used that service from Manchester Airport.

Looks like the M19 Cardiff to Glasgow service is staying.

My understanding was that some "local" routes would continue, interworked with the Anglo-Scottish routes.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I do wonder how the finances will stack up .... ComfortDelGro must have paid substantially for Megabus, only to close down a large chunk of it within a short time. There must be a loss there ....

Stagecoach have probably been propping megabus up with finances for a while and Comfort delgro have deemed it not commercially viable

Currently in Victoria Coach Station and I have to say that I am loving its new civilised feel with less passengers. Shame Megabus has almost gone, but even with NX cancelling their services west from late evening, Victoria Coach station is calm, plenty of seats and almost pleasant!

If they have, why would Comfortdelgro have wanted it? They'd have access to costs and income before paying. Loadings on most services seemed pretty good, so I'd doubt they were looking to increase loadings.

Wish it was like that every time!

Thandi, I think it is, have come to an agreement to use the Megabus branding under a franchiseor licence style agreement on routes they felt could be run viably With megabus as a ticket agent.

Looks like the brand will be available to any operator who wishes to use it under licence with ticket agent services.

That's more likely to be successful if Megabus aren't telling everyone they're withdrawing all routes that don't serve Scotland.

That will have been poor wording. It means that people might not look up Megabus for local journeys in England on Anglo-Scottish routes, doubting that such journeys are still available to book.

But do people other than bus enthusiasts look up operator timetables or do they just do a Google search for, say Birmingham to London bus and see what comes up?

I'm a bus enthusiast and I still do that, journey plannere normally give the best options, and checking a timetable isn't helpful when you need to know prices and availability

I do like a timetable to see where I am going, frequency and number of stops.

Not sure if anyone has noticed but they've rolled out a website refresh. Seems a bit odd to do that if you are starting to kill the brand like they have done!

I think it is mainly consolidating on using the Citylink booking engine rather than the old Megabus one.

Just looked at what services remain from Bristol besides the Falcon. M19 Friday-Monday from Glasgow/Cardiff still does. Noticed an M81 service that only goes to Leicester? Not sure how popular that will be. Last but not least the M82 to Newcastle is still running, not every day though, seems to rotate with the M81.

I don't think they're killing the brand. They still operate quite a few US and Canadian services (though they're still on the old booking engine at the moment).

Does Adventure Travel still run the Megabus routes in South Wales or have they also joined Flixbus?

Sure Adventure ran a number of routes
