777 001 on Ellesmere ports today (21st) , was on 10.52 ex Liv. Central
At least three 777 diagrams are being covered by 507/8s today. Two on the Ormskirk line with 507010 on the 1534 ex-Ormskirk and 508104 on the 1546 ex-Liverpool Central, whilst 508137 was on the New Brighton line's 777 diagram this morning.

I assume that that is a first day on the Ellesmere Port service. I did the branch on Tuesday and it was 2 x 508 and 1 x 507.
I saw three travel through Milton Keynes yesterday on 6Q77 Wembley - Walton.....and then overtook them again at Rugby. 43468 +43480 we're back to back at the front and 43465 + 43484 back to back at the rear, so it was an eye-catching formation alright. I think the units were 777020, 777026 and 777152 but I'm not certain about that.
What are the bogie bolster and cargowaggon type things in between the units for? Why not just couple the three units together?

I think there was a report of one Wednesday but I certainly wasn’t expecting it! 777 002 was on a Chester diagram and 777 003 was out on the Wirral training too. 10 and 11 stabled at Rock Ferry plus 013 on West Kirbys. They’re certainly making their presence felt!
I think the first passenger working to Ellmesmere Port was on Tuesday. I think it was the 777 003; actually mentioned in #5546.
The one I saw was also the 10:52 service.
The dispatcher on platform 3 at Liverpool Central said she was surprised when she first saw it.
Due to a burst water main between Aughton Park and Ormskirk on Wednesday, the 777 018 was stuck at Ormskirk probably for most of the day. The Ormskirk line had a bad day on Wednesday and nothing to do with the 777’s.
The one I saw was also the 10:52 service.

777003 was on Ellesmere Port services on Wednesday.
The first passenger Ellesmere Port train was 777003 on Wednesday 20th as you mention I reported in my post #5546.
Yes a lot of staff have been caught of guard with the increase of 777s on the Wirral line, a manager today still had no idea they had been going to Chester since last week.
Yes Ormskirk had two problems on Wednesday the burst water main and as a consequence a reported track problem by the very first train to run after the water main issue was resolved. The Wirral line also had problems yesterday which had nothing to do with the 777s and instead a track fault between Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool Central.

The flat IGB wagons are weighted, with concrete slabs I believe, to assist with brake force as the 777s have their brakes isolated, while the vans are IWA brake translators, the sets are split two and one as there is not enough room at Kirkdale to deal with three at a time

I was very surprised to catch 777001 on the 1747 LTT-HOO and the 2327 HOO-LTT last night as I don't remember any cancellations on the Ellesmere Port branch in previous weeks for training. I managed to get to Wrexham Central by 1848, four trains in a hour wasn't bad, but sadly it was only a 150 and not a 220 on the short leg from Wrexham General.

The cancellations on the west kirbys/New Brightons are more about freeing up the drivers for training, drivers already sign the routes

777 may become a very emotive number on Merseyside if Everton's controversial takeover by 777 Partners goes ahead.

Units were on the move from Walton to Kirkdale late last night (thanks to @ExRes in the Rail Adventure thread for this gen) - anybody know which units moved?

Bit of a shaky one today on Chester and Ellesmere Port services. 777011 was sat at Platform 4 at Rock Ferry all day, displayed as a demic on the signalling diagram. 777010 failed working 2C19 at Green Lane (CTR bound), and was moved to Rock Ferry. 507002 took over from there on 2C31. 777013 failed at Chester before departure with 2C33 which was cancelled and moved to Rock Ferry, where the issue was fixed (set of doors in the middle of the train isolated - assuming a door fault) and restarted from there working 2C39. The journey times on these trains is quite rapid on the Chester line between stations, which will pick up once the new timetable comes into play.
I was onboard 777001 and that unit performed well and I thought was quite smooth on the 70mph stretch south of Hooton. One thing I’ve learnt is that announcements made by the Train Manager in the cab make a chime noise when the PA button is pressed. However, I saw the Train Manager do this within the train by speaking in to their mobile handset which was then broadcasted without the chime around 3 seconds later. This I think is quite clever and a really useful tool to have.

Another three Class 777's arrived on Wednesday (777020, 777026 and 777152), which now makes just 21 still to be delivered. All seven hybrid (battery / electric) Units have now been delivered with the arrival of 777152.
Kirkdale C.S. = 001 to 020 inclusive, 023, 026, 031, 036, 049, 140, 142, 144, 146, 148, 150 and 152#.
(I am aware one # of the new arrivals is still at WOJn pending movement to Kirkdale). Correction Edit (1/10/23): It transpires that No 777150 was at WOJn and not delivered to Kirkdale.

2C15 - the 0945 Chester to Chester via Liverpool loop terminated and restarted at James St 'emergency' platform TWO today - i.e. not serving Moorfields, Lime St or Liverpool Central. Worked by 777013. Is this the first 777 to use this platform in passenger service?
They were using James St P2 for Chester services in the week (Wed 20th) due to an axle counter failure in the loop, unsure if a 777 was out on Chesters at the time but possibly.

Had my first run on a 777 yesterday (013).
10 mins late out of Chester, seemingly because of door problems. At Spital we were informed that it would run non-stop to Moorfields - maybe understandable, but odd not to stop at Hamilton Square for connections to New Brighton and West Kirby.

I did too...was so strange not hearing the usual scream of the DC motors during the 70mph bit between Hooton and Capenhurst you get on the 507/508s

The electronic line display on 777001 on the 0957 HOO-CTR on Saturday incorrectly showed the train as stopping at Capenhurst when in fact it was non-stop to Bache
Ive noticed the destination displays themselves seem to be quite confused on the Wirral Line, often heading to Liverpool the front displays will show Chester etc, likewise I have seen them heading from Liverpool to Chester displaying Liverpool Central on the front.
