Does anyone know if 507016 is still active in passenger service? I have a friend who wants to score it one last time.

I’m with you there going to try and find it Saturday see what I can do about the drag
I saw 016 yesterday at Birkenhead North depot attached to 001, about 11am. When I went past about 30 minutes later, they has uncoupled and 001 entered service on the West Kirby circuit. There was no sign of 016, so maybe in the shed?

I have just come back from a successful spin around the Merseyrail system. I hope my observations are of interest.
There were three 507 sets on the New Brighton circuit:
001
(xx:08), 017 (xx:38), and 029 (xx:53). 018 was stabled at New Brighton exactly where it was a week ago.
028 was working to West Kirby (I had it on the 13:25 from Liverpool Central and it returned at 14:06).
Two sets were working the Chester Circuit: 015 on the 10:15 from Central and 007 on the 10:30.
There were three pairs out on the Northern line:
010 + 033 on the 15:12 ex Southport, 003 + 023 on the 15:27, and 021 + 033 on the 15:42.
011 was stabled in the carriage sidings in the same spot it was last week.

The missing set 016 may have been inside Birkenhead North depot. I saw a 507 through the windows on my first pass about mid day but did not see it again although a 230 had gone inside subsequently and may have obscured it.

Thanks for providing this update, very informative.

Are many 507s inside Birkenhead North during the day? - When not required on other lines as 777 substitutes.

What units are next to depart for scrap?

There are usually at least one or two inside Birkenhead North shed for maintenance during the day and other spare units are stabled typically at New Brighton and Southport.

Based on last overhaul, 507021 & 507014 should be next for scrap, although any major fault with the remaining 15 x 507 units is likely to put the unit at risk of being next for scrap.

507011, 507016 & 507018 have all been out of action in recent weeks, not sure what their fate holds. I believe 011 & 018 are due to wheel flats.

018 had particularly bad flats when I caught it a few weeks ago.

Might be a bit late to this but I’ve heard news of 507003 getting repainted into something? Does anyone know wether it’s just a livery clean or a full livery change

Easter Sunday with Liverpool at home today, so naturally Merseyrail put out a full complement of three-cars on the half-hourly Southport line. 507021, for instance, is running the 11.57 from Southport and has been completely full and leaving passengers behind since Hall Road. To quote one of the passengers: 'It's like the Bombay Express.'

Another of those allocated, 507010, has a fault (tripcock?) so cannot proceed beyond Sandhills, leaving some hour-long gaps.

Another unmitigated, unbridled farce brought to you by Miseryrail. Worse than MTL days.

Units out on the Southport line are 507014, 507033, 507021, 507015 and 507010. The New Brighton line has 507007 and 507029.

Is there any 507's on the West Kirby line?

It’s a Sunday, a half service , and there is no spare 507s or 777s to cover. Seems fishy to me

Yes: 507003 and 507017 are both on the West Kirby line.

507021 is running much better now its power problem has been sorted; still a little squeaky though.
At last. It must have been like that for two months. I wonder why it took so long to resolve.
