I appreciate we don't have a date, I was just wondering if anyone knows very approximately if we are looking at May, June , or perhaps even later....

507001 and 507007 are out on the Chester line. 507010 is out on the New Brighton line.

I'd also be interested in informed forum members views on this - as you like to plan vist but don't think I can get to the area until about mid may.

Late June was the latest time frame mentioned for a possible farewell tour but this was only an estimate.

Keep eyes on branch line website as tickets will be booked through there when it's announced

There will probably not be much notice as it is hoped to be as near to the end of 507 operation as possible which is still a moveable feast - for example from today there's only supposed to be 3x6 cars in use on the Southport line but as reported above 2 are on Chesters and 1 New Brighton too.

Worth noting that 6 are going off lease this month so we would be down to the last 9 then. So it may only be a matter of weeks. Certainly would be surprised if any are in service at the start of the Summer holidays

One for the connoisseurs here, but 507001's rheostatic braking is back on in coach 64367 and it sounds superb. It is currently working the 12.45 from Chester. Nice loud motors in this carriage, too!

I also sampled 021 quite recently and thought it highly decent. 001 which stalked me non stop on the other hand, dear oh dear.

Thanks, I'm glad it's not just me being biased! As for 001, I can see why the preservation group want it, but I'm of the view one of 016, 018 or 029 would be a more sensible choice.

Great, so they fix the fault on 507021 and then send it for scrap!

It's just the way it is unfortunately, the same thing happened with 002. Hopefully 021 is out again before it goes, as I'd like to be on its final service if possible.

Managed to catch one of the Southport diagrams and the New Brighton diagram. The 2S02 diagram is 507029 and the New Brighton diagram is 507010.
Also briefly saw a second one of the Southport diagrams which is a 6-car formation, couldn’t id either unit.

The screens at Liverpool Central were showing a West Kirby departure as a 3-car about 10 mins ago.

If not already posted, I’ll share which units are on which diagrams once I’ve seen them.

I personally wouldn't get your hopes up on it coming back, would they go to the effort of getting it on the lathe for the sake of a few weeks when there are only a few booked diagrams remaining and plenty of units to cover them?
