Trawling through Railforums for will be remembered by posterity as a classic part of early 2020s bashing, having replaced however people got gen before (I'm not old enough to have bashed before the internet). I reckon in a few years' time someone will have coded an A.I. that predicts what will turn up where to a high degree of accuracy based on past movements.

Last 508s were withdrawn in January of this year.

As far as I am aware, It is a non payment event (I could be wrong because this isn’t my gen). However if it is then I would imagine for the tickets to be gone in the blink of an eye

On the MerseyRailway 2.0 Facebook page, the 507 Preservation Society said that they are working to get a new date on when the can collect 001 from Newport and they will let us know of any developments as soon as possible.

Given the forecast it was always going to be a real possibility that it was cancelled. I’d actually say that certainly in Chester the weather was even worse than forecast!

003/023 have now also had shoe gear and tripcock beams etc removed, so it's safe to say 507s are 100% finished.

I'm no expert on this but I'm pretty sure the shoes have to be removed when being dragged on non-merseyrail metals as it can impact clearance

Yes that is the case as well as the steps to ensure it is in gauge clearance, that is the reason why sadly it has to go to Derby by road as route would have to be cleared for onward movement by rail which would have made things easier and cheaper than three separate road vehicle movements!!!
