It's probably for a TSC, which would answer my question from post #6456.Immediately south of Blaby Road bridge in South Wigston, it looks like a concrete base has been constructed. I assume it’s to support some sort of electrical equipment?

Yep, South Wigston SATS (Sectioning Auto Transformer Site). It's probably for a TSC, which would answer my question from post #6456.
Nice, SPL have been very busy. Next full possession is 19/20 August.LinkedIn update from Mr Skinner, SPL's Engineering head honcho:

Sunday trip out to see the site teams on MMLe, SPLs Kettering to Wigston Electrification project. Vasts amount of work over the entire footprint of the scheme including Foundations, Steelwork, SPS, Wiring. Final Reg, and deveg. Sub-Stations coming on nicely at Wigston in readiness for...www.linkedin.com
A rather all-encompassing post, but the 1000th cantilever has now been hung as part of the project.
Ah yes, I overlooked the AT-feeding bit.Yep, South Wigston SATS (Sectioning Auto Transformer Site).
Provision for extra masts in the switch farms has been made at Napsbury & East Hyde (read: 2 extra piles were plonked in), but not at Long Meadow Farm, Ampthill, Bedford, Sharnbrook, Irchester or Harrowden IIRC.Ah yes, I overlooked the AT-feeding bit.
Which reminds me - I don't suppose any part of the Borehamwood-Kettering North section will likely be AT-fed in two years or so, will it? IIRC that requires additional funding (not a small thing considering everything north of Wigston was at risk), but with the OLE125 project not far off commencing...
It looks like surveyors kit to me. The tripod on the left would have the laser/theodolite fitted after siting - it’s the expensive bit so stays in its padded case until needed.Looks like some sort of time lapse equipment is being put up on the Blaby Road bridge.

The tripod on the right is carrying a 'corner cube reflector' which turns the laser beam from the surveying theodolite or other equipment back to that equipment for maximum accuracy.Looks like some sort of time lapse equipment is being put up on the Blaby Road bridge.

The Apollo astronauts left one on the moon, and changes in its distance have been tracked ever since by lasers to millimetre accuracy. The tripod on the right is carrying a 'corner cube reflector' which turns the laser beam from the surveying theodolite or other equipment back to that equipment for maximum accuracy.
After having a Laser go over, thanks to a digger getting too close, I can confirm it was expensive. Also there is a dear side and a very expensive side.It looks like surveyors kit to me. The tripod on the left would have the laser/theodolite fitted after siting - it’s the expensive bit so stays in its padded case until needed.
Wires are up in patches towards Wigston, including through Harborough station, but aren't continuous all the way from Kettering. There are still a few gaps, mainly for electrical sectioning purposes, that haven't been filled yet e.g. around the new feeder at Braybrooke, where a Neutral Section will be installed.Hi all
Thanks for the updates and intelligence.
Any chance of snapshot of where we are? Ie are we wired to Harborough?
Will the wire testing be held off until we're live to Wigston?
I assume it is all a bit hypothetical until the 810s come into service.
I was a little disappointed that the station rd bridge is still closed and some way off having a platform finished. I ride a bike out that way sometimes.
TIA
Network Rail and East Midlands Railway are reminding passengers taking journeys on the Midland Main Line this weekend to check before travelling as there are changes to services.
On Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 August, teams from Network Rail will be carrying out key work as part of the Midland Main Line Upgrade.
The Midland Main Line Upgrade is the biggest programme of improvements to the line since its completion in 1870, and will see the electrification of the line from Kettering to Wigston.
This weekend, work is taking place between Kettering and Wigston, and will see the track lowered, and overhead line equipment installed. The track under two bridges needs to be lowered in order to provide a safe distance between the bridges and electric wires, which will be used to power trains on the route. Work will also take place to improve drainage in the area.
To allow the work to take place safely, no trains will be able to run between Kettering and Leicester. To keep passengers moving, bus replacement services will operate between Kettering, Market Harborough and Leicester.
East Midlands Railway will also be running a reduced timetable on these dates, and diversion routes will be in place. This means some journeys will take longer than usual, so passengers are urged to check before travelling via National Rail Enquiries or at eastmidlandsrailway.co.uk
Gavin Crook, Principal Programme Sponsor for Network Rail, said: “The work we’re doing this weekend as part of the Midland Main Line Upgrade is vital, and will bring us one step closer to providing smoother, greener and better journeys for all passengers using the route.
If I were a betting man, I'd say this is for bridges SPC3-40 & SPC3-39 in Desborough.Press release

Network Rail will be carrying out work through the village at night between Monday 4th and Friday 8th September. This is in connection with the electrification of the Midland Main Line. The Parish Council will keep residents informed on the progress of this project as we get it.
And so it goes on, interesting.Came across this snippet by Sutton Bonington Parish Council (18 August):
For reference the village is located a few miles north of Loughborough, so it falls under RS3. Any further details?
Ground investigation surveys?Came across this snippet by Sutton Bonington Parish Council (18 August):

I don’t care. It is progressing and I welcome it.Ground investigation surveys?
Vegetation control?
Piling?
Agreed. It is progress.I don’t care. It is progressing and I welcome it.
