Hi all, just joined the forum. Can anyone tell what it mean lane when the job you applied for says ‘application referred to new vacancy’ then another job appears. Had my interview the beginning of last week and the application status change the beginning of this week. Any help will be much appreciated? Ps I’ve tried ringing head office a couple of times but they haven’t said anything

I think this means that although you may have not been successful at the interview you attended or be the first choice for that position your application and interview has been moved over to another vacancy as you were considered a suitable applicant, no guarantee but could mean for example you were second choice but another similar position has been found for you.

You would need to await further communication though or if you can try and give recruitment a call and see what they say.

Fingers crossed it results in positive news for you

It probably means that the person whose job you have applied for has either withdrawn their retirement or resignation, or that they have decided not to move to or couldn't hack it at another location and are staying put .If it's Signalling you are going for, they are taking lots on without fixed locations for the proposed reduction in the maximum working week. We've just got two training on our patch right now.Just go with it,the main thing is to get on the job and worry about the rest later...

If you have applied for a job which potentially had multiple positions available, they will reassign your application to a new vacancy under a separate IRC number if you have been successful as they need to split all the candidate records out so each one has a unique IRC number.
