My wife and I maybe booking a ticket from Newcastle to York soon, as part of a longer journey. It'll be on a Sunday.
There are two options at about the same time (see the image)
LNER (08:55) at £34.60 and TPE (08:59) at £26.60, both very reasonable for first class.
Last Sunday, we travelled on the TPE to Leeds and the service was excellent, with a lovely 'full English' breakfast, served very soon after we left NCL I would give it 9.5 out of 10
However, we like to arrive at Newcastle station early, on the Tyne & Wear Metro, so travelling with LNER would let us wait in their first-class lounge. Furthermore, we'll have another 30 minutes to wait in York, so once again we could visit the lounge there too. I am not even sure whether we would actually get any food on the LNER train. Last year we travelled from York to Newcastle and only got a coffee.
Which would folk here pick .. LNER or TPE
