Along with that, 4001 was out of service all day yesterday due to examinations following a fatality the night before on the Derry line --- old post above --- --- new post below ---
455 has now returned to Belfast following it's short visit to Portrush.... The branch is now being worked by a ***** (CAF)
The final three 450 class sets were withdrawn today although they remain
serviceable. 458 ran under its own power to Belfast Central where it is now
stored in the siding with 454 and 459 455 and 456 ran as a 6 piece from York
to Ballymena where they are stored in the permanent way yard
Thanks for the confirmation r/e the keeping of three sets - but is it just until July?
Not surprised at what you say r/e 451! Hear both have been - were heavily cannibalised to keep the rest going, a' la 452 - the entire of one side by the engine bay of the power car was cut away in the pics taken at Hamils, and there was no sign of any engine at the scrapyard - that I saw in the pics - at all... Probably been torn apart for spares!
Sorry for the error r/e locations - I have corrected my list above.
I have added photos taken on the 21.4.12 to 22.4.12 of 8452 getting taken away by Hamills for scrap from Belfast York Road Depot also added photos of 8451 getting taken away for scrap also on 28.4.12 - 29.4.12 plus some photos taken of the railcars at Hamills yard to the following link
