No railcard when I thought I had one for a ticket I did not use

Good evening everyone, I have not yet received any notice from GWR yet regarding the issue and the last response I got was on the third of this month. Which is almost a month after the report. With me being in university accommodation and my parents going away in the next few weeks would it be a reasonable thing to email GWR and ask if possible if I would be able to receive a notice of when my case has been received and also is it normal to take this long to receive a letter. Many thanks

When you were in touch with them before wasn’t that via email? I wonder if they would contact you via email at the next step anyway. I’m not sure about that however.

Which postal address did you give them originally? Term time uni accom or parental home address.

I gave them my home address not my term time accommodation. They said that once they receive the report that they will send something via the post. Which ultimately means my home address, and the inspector took a picture of my ID which shows that aswell.

Ok. So how long will your parents be away from that address if the letter was to go there? That’s what you need to work out ref getting their letter presumably as that will be where it’s sent.

Why not set up mail re-direct for the period your parents are away?

Hello everyone, my parents just received this letter at my home address and haven’t opened it yet. Does it look like a standard GWR letter or is it just a random piece of mail.

I will be going back on the weekend to open it regardless, but I was just wondering if it’s an actual GWR letter as I expected some sort of branding on the envelope

I don't think anyone here can answer that for sure!

Are you not wishing to ask your parents to open it and send you a copy of what is in it? Tho if you are going there this weekend that's not long to wait and see for yourself if you want to keep this confidential.
make sure you have a valid ticket to get there though

I would think post from GWR would be franked not sent with an individual stamp but you can never be too sure - ge an occasion where our office post room franking machine broke so the post room operator went round to the local shop to buy a supply of stamps so post could go out that day whilst the franking machine got fixed.

I would also expect it to have an 'if undelivered please return to....' address on the back indicating who sent it

Thank you very much, i’ll update the forum if it is from GWR, and don’t worry I have bought another railcard so I’ll definitely have a valid ticket ;)

Good evening everyone, I received an email from the Prosecution team today after being in contact with them and they said that they have been unable to locate it yet after trying many times in the past few weeks. They also said that the inspectors have 28 days from when I was stopped to send it in. It has been 44 days today and they still have not been able to locate my case. Then they said they have 16-20 weeks to upload these cases to their system. Does this mean that my case is being uploaded in the 16-20 week timeframe

Presumably yes but ultimately they know they have 6 months to lay papers before the court so that can be the back stop they work to.

Or your paper work
Might have got totally lost. You’re not in the clear until at least 6 months from the incident they caught you at.

You need to be able to monitor and receive your post for 7 months from date of being stopped and details taken.

Good evening everyone,
I just wanted to ask if GWR has been going through a backlog due to how long it’s taken to receive a letter. It has been just over 8 weeks since I was stopped. Has this been happening recently with GWR. Many thanks

Also due to length It has taken for me to receive a letter I have began second guessing if I gave them the correct address. I’m fairly certain I gave them my home address but the longer it’s taken for me to receive anything the more i doubt myself. A picture of my ID was taken which obviously has my address on it but during the interview I’m now beginning to wonder if i accidentally gave them my uni accommodation address. Would it be the smart idea to email the team which I have been talking to just to confirm my home address. Within all my emails I have added my home address and actually told them i’m at uni so if they do receive my case would they be able to notify me so i can go home to to get the letter. So now i’m just wondering if i should confirm this to eliminate any worry and potential problems

I am not aware we have seen delays from GWR, buy I do not read every thread, so there may have been

Do you have access to both addresses to be able to access post from either? You have already contacted them a few times and they have said it can take up to 20 weeks, so I would suggest leaving the ball in their court to make the next move. It is possibly they have lost the paperwork or decided not to take any further action. There is a danger that they could prosecute without your knowledge, but if that happens it can be undone providing you act quickly once you find out. On the other hand if it is really causing you a lot of worry, then for the sake of your mental health you could try and contact them again.

If you gave them an incorrect address then it would be sensible to contact GWR to advise them of your correct address.

After thinking about the questioning I do remember giving them the correct address as I know I did not give them my flat number nor my building block, therefore I know for a fact I gave them the correct address.

Would the prosecution without my knowledge only be if i were to actually give them the wrong address and therefore not be able to reply to them ?

It could happen if for example the paperwork was lost in the post, but normally there would be more than once comunication as we would expect GWR to write to you to ask you for you side of the story and court papers would also need to be served, so that would be a separate comunication, so unlikely both would get lost in the post

Good afternoon everyone, today I received a letter from GWR. Thankfully it was an out of court settlement offer which I have paid immediately. The “data cost” was £100 on top of my fairs. Thank you to everyone who helped me with everything. As much as I appreciate everyone’s help I hope to never be back In This thread , you guys are unsung heroes and I’m grateful. Thank you

. . .Once again, an instance of very fair treatment for the OP from the T.O.C. (GWR) concerned – I believe they DO take previously purchased tickets or fares paid into account!
