Can anyone explain why 5H41 Crewe - Stoke (RR) - Crewe ECS ran today (it was a 323) (guessing it was to clear platform space but it seems a long way to go!).

And can anyone id the unit involved ?

Thanks.

Certainly an interesting move. Looking on RTT it went ECS after forming 2K39 from Manchester Picc to Crewe, arriving into P1, but during the time it was between Crewe and Stoke as 5H41 nothing else used P1 until the same unit returned and then formed 2H41 back to Piccadilly so can't see that platform space was an issue. Also, isn't there a stabling point at the north end of P1 at Crewe which Northern use overnight?

I'm wondering if there is any planned engineering works on the Manchester-Stoke route and those services are going to be diverted via Crewe and so it was a bit of route knowledge work for the driver?

Unless it was doing what GWR have been doing, using MUs as traincrew taxis

Can anyone advise the DRS loco which worked the 0840 Daventry to Mossend service via ECML yesterday, Saturday 11th, please. Headcode as well if possible, please.

From York Railcam it appeared to be 66429 but my eyes aren't 100% these days!

Here is a link to the service in RTT, if it helps -

Many thanks

The Knottingley move was 3Z12. I don’t have the consist sadly but guess you mean 2 rather than 22 66s?
The 0715 DON to Cleethorpes was 5G55, again sadly the numbers have been removed from the system.
5G54 was 153317/328/351/378.

Thank you!

One from today (Sunday) - there's a Colas 70 toward the south end of Basford Hall yard this afternoon. Can anyone offer an id ? (In normal times I'd have wandered over for a closer look, but . . . )

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I noticed an unusual working from Fort William to Bristol Parkway in RTT today. It was cancelled but I wondered what it was meant to be ?

  • Starts as Diesel locomotive, trailing load 385 tonnes, changes en route
    Starts planned at 95mph max
  • TRUST ID 06165S1C13
  • Activated 13/04/2020 07:25
Thanks

John
