Did I see an East Coast HST heading south on the Durham Coast line yesterday (Sunday). OK it was dark, but I'm sure it wasn't Grand Central :-?

That seems very likely since there were engineering works between N'cle and York ( I think) all weekend. It is not unusual to have HST's on the coast line, or on the Tyne Valley line, during works periods. Pity the Ferryhill/Leamside line is not usable, it would save a lot of inconvenience for folk, put a diesel loco on the front of the Electrics and it could take them through, that's if there are spare diesels of course!

One an hour IIRC was diverted via Northallerton, Eaglescliffe and Sunderland. Happing next weekend as well.

The first and second ECs into PBO on Sunday morning were late due to overrunning engineering work. The announcement was an allowance had been made, but not enough. Ironically, both were officially clocked into KGX at exactly 29 mins late, funny that...

Have heard this was happening but never got the diagrams. Missed the Leeds drags last year as well so not good for 67 haulage recently.

Plenty of HST's going through Hartlepool at the weekend, quite a few shocked faces when two came through at the same time on different lines obviously - although through the station!
