I've bought the wrong ticket for a trip from London euston to North greenwich. I've got a £9.00 anytime day return from euston to greenwich. Will this be valid to North greenwich?

Yes this is the ticket I have. Is the ticket valid for part of my journey? If so what ticket would I need to buy? If not what ticket would I need for a euston to North greenwich return? I can't find north greenwich in the search

Anyone know? Cheers for your help so far.

When are you travelling? Do you hold an Oyster Card? Where did you purchase original ticket?

North Greenwich and Greenwich stations are connected by the 188 bus route, so you might as well just travel to Greenwich on National Rail and get the bus up to North Greenwich to save you having to change your ticket.

Thank you for your help. If I wanted to buy a new ticket how much would that be? From London euston to North greenwich and what changes of tube do I make? Thanks in advance.

North Greenwich is an Underground station on the Jubilee Line, not a National Rail station.

With an Oyster card the one-way fare is £2.20 (£2.80 in the peak hours), so even taking the Oyster card deposit into account it would cost less than the £9 return ticket you bought.

No worries; off peak on Oyster Euston-North Greenwich is £2.80 (£4.70 with cash). That journey is quite simple, just get the Northern Line from Euston to London Bridge, and from there get on the Jubilee Line to North Greenwich.

Cheers mate. How much is a return with cash? 2nd question, if I get an Oyster card can I buy 2 tickets with it for me and my friend or are 2 cards required? I'm new so I'm learning.

You'd need a card each.

So is it valid to London bridge then? Then how much is a underground ticket to North greenwich without an oyster from London bridge?

Yes it is valid to London Bridge. Fares from London Bridge to North Greenwich are the same as from Euston because it covers the same zones. You really don't want to be paying for tube travel by cash.

I see. Thank you. I'm making 1 return journey between euston and North greenwich for 2 adults. I'm then leaving London. What's the cheapest way/fares I can get. Cheers.

As quoted, use Oyster and each adult pays £2.20 off-peak or £2.80 peak each way. The deposit on the Oyster card is £5 which can be refunded* at Euston before you leave, or just keep the card for the next time you come to London. Credit on an Oyster card never expires. For Euston to North Greenwich the peak times are 0630-0930 and 1600-1900. The other way it's only 0630-0930.

* You may need proof of name/address to get the refund on the spot

I believe that your existing ticket is valid for at least your outward journey. The outward portion is valid to London Bridge, and from London Bridge to North Greenwich you can use the Underground element of the return portion. You are not gonna need to use the National Rail element of your ticket as you are not actually going to Greenwich. You won't get any money back for the ticket as the admin fee of £10 is more than the value of the ticket so might as well use it.

For the return journey just get an Oyster card each, stick £5 credit on them and use PAYG. Keep the card for the next time you are in London. It will be well worth it. Cash single/return fare in London is pretty much a rip-off. For example, if you are travelling out of Euston after 0930, you could have bought an Off-Peak Day Travelcard throughout Zones 1-6 - unlimited travel for one day for £8.90.

Agreed.

It has to be the most expensive way to do what should be a £2.20/£2.80 journey ever, but a return from Zone U12 London to North Greenwich is valid from any Zone 1/2 station (e.g Euston), to any other Zone 1/2 station, in this case Euston to London Bridge to North Greenwich, switching from 'OUT' to 'RTN' portions at London Bridge.

Good thinking! Probably the best solution given the ticket has already been purchased.

Agreed, definitely worth it, if ever visiting London again.

I'm nearly 200 miles away and have more than one Oyster card!

At the risk of causing further confusion -

the absolutely cheapest way to do it would be to do it by bus - from euston, bus 59 or 68 or 168 to Southampton Row then bus 188 (almost certainly from the same bus stop) to North Greenwich.

And then vice versa to go back to Euston.

Or if you fancy a bit of a walk (about half a mile) then walk between Euston and the 188 terminus at Russell Square.

Bus journeys in London are 2.40 cash single, 1.40 single on Oyster Card (flat fare for any distance, time of day makes no difference nor do zones.) And with Oyster, you would have a 'daily cap' at 4.40 for bus travel.

Or if you already have a ticket that's valid to Greenwich (south eastern trains) then you can get a 188 bus from Greenwich to North Greenwich (you will have to walk a short distance towards Greenwich town centre - it doesn't go past the door at Greenwich Station) - fares as above.

Note that the Oyster single fare is now £1.45. The cash fare and multi-journey cap on Oyster remain at the above levels.

Your best bet might have been a zone 1-2 travelcard at exactly the same price as the ticket you bought. Would have covered the whole journey and as many other trips as you were able to fit in

Presumably you bought from a rail site - North Greenwich would not be listed as it's not a rail station

Off-peak Z1-2 Day Travelcards are no longer on sale. The only cheap off-peak travelcard appropriate for this journey is the 1-6 at £8.90 as mentioned by bb21.

What's the procedure on changing or refunding tickets bought online out of interest? I have the 9 pounds tickets plus another ticket for a young persons railcard holder?
