38 remains a scourge. Westbound on the 1810 from MBR, no heat as usual so v cold. Filthy and dim lighting, rubbish bus seats. On the other hand, running OK

142087 on 2021 from Doncaster to Sheffield, which started at Brid. I was expecting a 170, but to be fair it’s warm, and thrashing it.

Has anyone spotted a pacer on the Sunday 0810 service from Darlington - Whitby? I've heard that recently this has been run by a pacer. Would love to ride on a pacer on the esk valley one more time!

The last few Sundays have thrown up a Pacer on that service. Think number 63 worked the first one from Darlington last week. Two weeks before I think it was 066 or 096?

My advise would be to keep an eye on the service levels during the day as Northern will very rarely cancel the Whitby train, normally there will start it from Middlesbrough using the spare set which is 99% of the time a Pacer. I was lucky (or unlucky for some people) to see that the 15:52 Hexham to Whitby was cancelled and starting from Middlesbrough at 17:56 2 weeks ago, and thought there was very good chance of it been a Pacer, sure enough 142078 arrived into Platform 2 at Middlesbrough so I couldn’t resist one last chance to ride on a Pacer to Whitby and back.

142067 eastbound at Allens West now, headed for Saltburn. Plenty of squeaking, some heat, and bus seats for all the masochists out there..

This morning, I observed (and snapped) 142090 working the 0845 Sheffield - Lincoln, full to the gunwales of Christmas Market passengers.

What do you think the probability is of this service being a 142 tomorrow?

I know it's a bit late now but apparently 142091 went to Whitby this morning. As next Saturday is intended to be the last day of 142 operation in the NE and the fact that weekday/Saturday diagrams are booked for 156/8 units. It could be the last time a 142 visits the town.

what service is 142060 doing like please
I will be exceedingly unhappy if it (or any of its brethren) shows up on the 1310 Middlesbrough-Bishop Auckland. (Stand by for some Schadenfreude). I'm pretty sure 067 won't be in position to run this unless I've read the timetable all wrong.
