Slightly off topic as I’m not sure where to put this but I’ve noticed 6 car 331s (some could be examples due for Yorkshire) on Chat Moss today is this now a regular thing?

All the Manchester Airport to Liverpool LS (should be) 4 car or 6 car now, the diagrams are in for the east on the 6 car front but they have not started yet, well none are running today anyway.

The final one is north of Preston over an hour early! Keep fingers crossed!

Any news on when the 6 car working will start on the east side? The overcrowding on the 3 car workings in and out of Leeds is pretty severe in the rush hour and busy times at the weekend

Current internal memo says start of July. But I fully expect that to be further pushed back.

A 331 has been assigned to Doncaster today...
There was a 331 & 333 pairing on sunday too. I wonder if it's so Doncaster crews can maintain their competency on them?

333 avaliability is another factor, as three of them are presently out service

Diagrams that should switch to a pair of 331s are currently being covered by a 333.

Happy to hear that it is happening.

But i still insist that with four termini, it is not a triangle!

Theyre on all routes except Skipton to Bradford and back because there no method of dispatch at platform 5 at Shipley
So they're going to be used on Leeds to Bradford & Bradford to Ilkley too?
I'm surprised to be honest!

They are but not a lot of trips on them, it's more just how they are diagrammed on and off the main Leeds-Ilkley/Skipton trains

An article on the BBC website says:

"Extra carriages are to be added to trains on busy routes in parts of West and North Yorkshire, meaning passengers are more likely to get a seat, Northern has said.

The train operator said it would begin introducing more six-carriage services between Leeds, Ilkley, Skipton and Bradford Forster Square this week."

My bold. Has it happened yet?

It's two triangles overlapping each other, if you think about it
And there's a triangle at Shipley! It's difficult to imagine that, until 1979, there were no platforms on the Leeds to Skipton side of the triangle. I can't remember it, but I do remember when there was only one platform, which meant Leeds-bound trains had to cross to use it if they were stopping.

The 0716 left Skipton on time and has arrived only a few minutes down at Leeds. Success so far!
Do we know which carriages will be off the platform at which stations? Hopefully it’ll be somewhat consistent or I can see this being confusing for passengers.

It’s a bit of shame they did half a job on the platform extensions and not extend all stations (appreciating there is one platform at Shipley that can’t be done)

1817

Departs - Ilkley

1110
1440
2040

Departs - Leeds

0825
1033
1155
